Good value but medicore food
We went recently for lunch at Perry St. The dining room is cool and sophisticated, if a little cold. The prix fixe lunch is good value, but we had a mixed bag in terms of quality. The crab was fantastic, but the chicken and omlette were very ordinary. Additionally the service was poor. I wouldn't return.

Flavor Explosion!!!
I went to Perry St. last night and had a fabulous time. The fresh mozzarella was creamy and was perfectly complimented with the grilled eggplant and ponzu. My husband got the tuna and he seemed to enjoy it. The shortribs were delicious with the pear slices. Service was unobtrusive and attentive. Overall a great experience.

Don't Even Bother!
Perry St. has a beautiful dining room and it’s in a great location but the Magic of this place Ends There. The food is just adequate and the service is naively below par. Our waiter spent our entire meal leaning against a back wall talking to other waiters while every round of drinks we ordered sat at the bar while we waited to be delivered to us. It became comical trying to make eye contact with someone who would bring them to us. The staff is polite but they are just oblivious to what high end service should be, and based on the prices of their menu they should be far more attentive. Seems like this place lacks a professional Captain but between the poor service and mediocre food it is only a matter of time before this place shuts down. We wont be going back here and I will spread the word to others to stay clear of this place.

Fantastic!
Perry St. definitely surpassed my expectations. We tried to Taste of Summer lunch tasting, and were so pleased! The Arctic Char sashmi was the only thing we tried that left a little to be desired. The yellowfin tuna burger was fantastic. The grilled fish was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments really completed the burger. Surprisingly, the mozzarella and cherries, a dish that seems so simple, was fantastic. The housemade mozzarella was full of flavor and again, the accompaniments made the dish quite memorable. The chile oil poached snapper was moist and again, perfectly cooked. I was skeptical about trying the restaurant during restaurant week, where foods are often mass prepared and doesn't show the quality of the restaurant, but was overwhelmed with the quality, service, and how tasty everything was. I will definitely return.

Lives up to its 'Jean Georges' rep
My wife and I are pretty serious restaurant 'junkies' and make a concerted effort to try a new place each week - Perry St has been on our radar for awhile. We finally pulled the trigger for dinner last Friday and it lived up to all of our expectations. We were a bit thrown upon arriving for our 7:30pm to see the place was only half full, but settled in for what would turn out to be a great meal. Our waiter was one of the friendliest we've had in some time and was great at answering all of our questions about wine, ingredients used, etc. With the exception of one average dessert, every plate was outstanding. For starters my wife had the shrimp with butternut squash puree and I went with the peekytoe crab salad with a mango foam/sauce. The mango sauce on the crab salad had a unique "effervescent" texture, and the spiciness from red Thai chilies was a great balance to the sweet mango. For entrees, we went with the steamed snapper with purple potato butter and the asian style "sweet and sour" short ribs with carrot/ginger puree, both of which were phenomenal. We closed out the meal with 2 desserts - the croissant bread pudding with carmelized bananas was great in its simplicity, but the strawberry-rhubarb trifle special was just "ok". We'll definitely be back at some point.

Great experience
I had an excellent dinner here with a friend last week. An amuse bouche of celery root bisque, the shrimp and seared tuna appetizers were great. I loved my short ribs vinagrette entree. I'm not a huge meat eater, and was leaning toward the chili roasted cod. But I wanted to go with something a little different for me, and while they can be kind of fatty, i love the tenderness of braised short ribs. These were amazing. Tender, so flavorful and not as fatty as I've experienced in the past. (i think there should be a tad more of the accompanying carrot puree, however. What was there was about three tablespoons full.) My friend ordered the arctic char and enjoyed it. I tried a bit and thought it was well prepared, very moist, fresh tasting. I wasn't a fan of the really spicy vegetable that came with it--the heat made it barely edible/enjoyable. Loved the banana and hazelnut cake dessert! Great mix of textures, just enough sweetness. I ordered the white chocolate mousse dessert--pretty good, but a bit sweet for my preference. Service was terrific--helpful, patient, attentive but not annoyingly so, and didn't push us out when we lingered a long time, talking after dessert. Atmospher/decor is modern, clean, hip but still warm and intimate. Definitely not a place I'd recommend for a raucous group of friends. Wish a couple of the tables weren't so close that I initially felt a little stifled and wary of my conversation, but it wasn't a big deal. I would go again.
