Bad bang for the buck
Going to have to agree with most everyone else. I really really wanted this place to be awesome and it was actually worse than almost every other place around. Ive given it a shot three differet times and each visit we all found it to be way overpriced, poorly prepared food (which is a shame beause the menu has so much potential), and no drink specials etc. There are just too many other great places in this neighborhood to try.

Awesome place!!
Although permanent brunch is small, the atmosphere is relaxed and somewhat cozy. I had the Pan roasted chicken which was delicious and my friend had the gingerbread pancakes which were some of the best pancakes i ever tasted. Slightly overpriced, but i would come back again.

You had me at "Bacon Bar"
My friend and I had our hearts set on trying out the new east village establishment, Permanent Brunch back in August. I mean, really, this place had a bacon bar. I arrived there and the hostess tells me I need to be patient as the wait time is over an hour and a half. Within 30 minutes we are seated! The place is small, seating 40 guests, but it's cozy in a good way. There are tiles around the entire restaurant that my friend told me the owner did by hand with pictures taken in various subways. The premise behind the name is that this place is opened really late and always serves brunch. All day, all night. The item I wanted was sold out for the day...at 1pm. Being new, the place obviously had some kinks they needed to work out. I ordered Red-Wine Braised Mushrooms with a poached egg. My friend got the Ham and Cheese stuffed french toast. Both dishes were d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s. We also had the champagne drinks that were prepared very well and the portions were generous. I do wish they provided some sort of toast, bread, pastry, muffin, anything complimentary as many other brunch places do. It felt like you had to pay for everything. We also ordered off of the artisan bacon menu. Would I return? No. It was definitely a one time experience that was unfortunately too overpriced, and not really that unique.

A real disappointment
I live in the area and often go out to brunch on the weekend. I was very excited to finally try Permanent Brunch on Saturday. I read a few articles about their bacon menu and bacon is what I love. Completely underrated bacon! The atmosphere was not good. The place is small and cramped. They were blaring Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers so I could barely hear what my brunch date had to say. I asked for eggs over medium and they were over well n hard inside. No toast with eggs? How are you supposed to sop up the runny yellow yolk.. wait, you're not! They can't prepare a proper egg. I left feeling disappointed and hungry.

Not impressed at all
I had heard good things about Permanent Brunch and thought their menu sounded interesting. After one trip I am certain I will not return. Nothing was really that good, everything was pretty small but expensive. I had the sugar cured bacon (not good) and the chicken and waffles (not bad). Other things I saw coming out around me were measly and did not look great at all. Permanent Brunch is not recommended.

"So where are we going to brunch next?"
"So where are we going to brunch next?" is what the people next to us said as they finished their meal at Permanent Brunch. Lets just say that if you are going to name your restaurant Permanent Brunch--you're basically telling your customers "hey our brunch menu is so awesome--we don't need to serve anything else!" Well they better rethink not only their name, but their food and the service. People that walked in 30 minutes after us got their food before us. When they realized that they forgot to put our order in--they shoved the appetizers and our entrees onto our small little table. The sugar bacon was not crispy or sweet. Shrimp and grits: Shrimp was tough and rubbery. Grits not served warm. Coq au vin chicken/waffles: Chicken tasteless/waffle ok. All i can say is that i wanted a big fat cheeseburger after my meal at Permanent Brunch. If you want great grits and amazing chicken and waffles go somewhere else.

I will not go back
I've been meaning to go here since they opened and finally did today. The wait wasn't as long as i thought it would be and the menu sounded different and interesting. We ordered drinks and it took about 20 min for them to come. My 1 friend's drink didn't come with the others i guess because the bar tender doesn't know how to make 2 of the same drinks at once. The waitress made a poor excuse for the bar tender sucking. Then the food came about 20 min after that. My omelette was way over cooked and just not very good, with a side of about 2 1/2 fingerling potatoes. My friend (same guy who waited about 30 min for a simple cocktail) ordered the steak and eggs medium rare and the meat came out raw...purple. The waitress tried to make a (another) lame excuse that the chef interprets med rare differently to how others may think of it...i guess that "chef" didn't go to culinary school or doesn't know the difference between 3 minutes on each side compared to 3 seconds on each side. By the time he got a proper med rare steak the rest of us were done with our food. They did not comp the steak & eggs. Overall the service sucked, food was not very good, and cocktails were tasty...once the bar tender remembered how to make them
