Fabulous Greek food and ambience
My husband and I first went to Periayli three years ago during Restaurant week and we have deemed it one of our most favorite restaurants since then. We get our normal octupus, calamari and greek salad appetizers to start. Now for entree, I've always stuck to the shrimp santorini and they have always been more than accommodating to making that dish even when it's off menu. However, tonight they were insanely busy so I decided to try the rabbit stew. Let's just say that it was unbelievable - the meat was juicy and tender and meat served with pearl onions in this delicious tomato sauce. I got the infamous spinach rice on the side which was the perfect compliment to the rabbit. My husband got the bronzino, which he always gets, and it was as simply and delicious as it always has been. To end the meal, I had the walnut cake and he got his normal rice pudding. Overall, it has always been one of our favorite places - they don't rush you and the food and ambience is fantastic. But did you expect any less from the same owners of il cantinori and aureole? I think not...I have and would continue to highly recommend this place to all of my friends.

Nothing Special
I am late 20s and live in the Greenwich Village decided to try Periyali one night with the girlfriend. First off, we brought the average age down to 68. Secondly, indifferent service immediately made us feel unwelcome and unwanted, although the restaurant was half empty on this Friday night. The food was mediocre (bland) and the portions looked like half orders. This place must be able to remain open because of the constant business by the elder clientele that does not know better. No need to go here with all the other amazaing downtown establishments.

A Great Overall experience
This restaurant is a great place to go if you want to entertain some out of towners. I went here with a bunch of collegues. The service and food (especially the starters) were excellent. We were told to ask the waiter to give us a large assortment of appetizers, which was the best part of the meal. The highlights are the grilled octopus, meatballs, beet salad and the pita platter. The interior is a bit wedding-reception like, but very relaxing.

Good food and great service
We had a great time at this restaurant. The food and service was excellent. We got a wonderful table and the waiter was very generous with providing us samples, and a few things on the house. The food was cooked very well. The owner was at the restaurant that day, seemed like a very hands on person!
