I've never watched Top Chef, so I had no idea of what to expect at Perilla. Just heard from a friend that the food was good. It was much better than that: truly excellent. A simple place (I've been to sooo many restaurants in that space) with food much more ambitious and delicious than the decor leads you to expect. Go now.

My friends and I were not looking to be amazed, just wanted a casual meal, but we were wowed by this place. Foods is amazing. The cocktails however are weak, but that is fine since the food more than makes up for it.

Been here twice and both times have been amazing. One of the best meals ive had in manhattan. The value is really good as well and perilla has a great non-pretentious atmosphere with great service. No wonder you cant get a reservation easily. Will be back soon!

The rave reviews for this restaurant aren't exaggerating: amazing food and service, beginning to end. The faro risotto and duck meatballs to start were an explosion of flavors. I had the pork loin, which came in a giant portion, but I managed to eat most of it. The lavender was subtle and complimented the meat perfectly. The warm doughnuts easily fed three people and were a perfect end to the evening. I didn't find this place to be outrageously expensive. The total came out to $75 a head, which I thought was very reasonable for an app, entree, side, dessert, coffee and wine! I can't wait to go back and try a fish dish.

I went with a bunch of my friends for my birthday. They accommodated as best as possible. Great atmosphere and decor, but small. Food was to dye for! Best food I have ever had! Drinks were good as well. Definitely a place that I would recommend for everyone.

I have to say, I have eaten at quite a few restaurants in my time, all over the world- BUT, this definitely was one of the top 25 meals of all time!! I mean truly from appetizer to dessert everything just really sparkled and flowed. Our server was Anita- and she was FABULOUS (seriously... excellent wine recommendation!) and explained the menu beautifully. It was really just a delight from each course to taste what wonderful flavors exploded in your mouth!! Recommend the Flank Steak meal, Sheep's Milk Ricotta Raviolis and also the Chilean Sea Bass Special ( the chef's daily special). Also the Chocolate Tasting Dessert is a great indulgence for the chocolate lover without going over board and being too rich! I just can't WAIT to go back again and introduce a whole new group of friends to this delicious gem!

I celebrated my birthday w/my BF last night. We shared the spicy duck meatballs which were very tasty. I had the triggerfish which was enough to feed two ppl. He had the halibut and it was very well seasoned. The red velvet cake was nothing to write home about. Strawberry linzer torte was heavenly. Impeccable service and overall a great experience. We'll be back!
