My three daughters and I had dinner at Perilla last night to cap off a day in the city. I must admit that we do not eat out often and two of us are not particularly adventerous eaters. We were slightly intimidated by the menu at first, since very little was familiar to us. However, our waiter answered any questions we had and made some suggestions. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals from the appetizers, through the main course, to the desserts. I especially enjoyed the grilled quaile (a first for me.) The sauce it was served with made each bite perfection. The staff anticipated our needs without being obtrusive. We had a wonderful experience. I found the price to be reasonable and I would highly recommend Perilla to foodies and food novices alike. Thank you!

We went here for a birthday dinner. I wasn't expecting too much really. I'd never even heard of the restaurant. Everything that came out, from the wine to the appetizers to the main courses were delicious. I ordered the scallops and the Hanger steak. Very professional and knowledgeable service. Great recommendations. Would definitely go back.

Perilla is a charming little restaurant on a charming little street in the Village. Our waiter was outstanding and all of the food was excellent. The crispy calamari salad was fantastic and a surprise. the greens were deep fried and crispy, too. It was so delicious. I could take or leave the duck meatballs that everyone raves about.. Lamb Shank was excellent and mine was particularly large (says my waiter: the biggest he's ever seen). The "donuts" were so delicious but there were 4 large ones which I felt were way too much for one person (for me, anyway!) Actually, the portion size was surprisingly large on everything we ordered. I give Perilla 2 thumbs up. Nice atmosphere, fantastic service, lovely food - what more could you ask for. Oh, it wasn't terribly expensive ( just regular NYC expensive!!)

We loved our foods. Love the meatballs, beets salad, my fish was grilled and seasoned perfectly (dinner was Sunday and freshness of fish wasn't there for Japanese fish eater but it was executed well). Elk was deep flavor with a marrow bone. The doughnuts (4) had nice filling inside. The cheese plate needs some upgrade. I will definitely go back for more.

Just returned from brunch at Perilla. While everything that came out of the kitchen was of top quality, the portion sizes were disappointing given the prices. $50 for two people for brunch that left us both hungry and stopping on the way home for food is not a good value (and we're not huge eaters). Perhaps there is an expectation that each person order more than one of the $6 sides.

I took my boyfriend to dinner last night for his birthday. The service was absolutely fantastic. Very chill, simple and nice. We shared lots of appetizers (duck meatballs, pork belly, apple salad, rock shrimp salad, lamb prosciutto). They split everything for us and timed everything perfectly. For dessert, we had the donuts and the carrot cake. Both were great. When I made my open table reservation, I left a note saying that I would be celebrating a birthday, and they remembered to put a candle, which was cute and very much appreciated.

but so were the 1st and 2nd. My wife and I made our 3rd visit to Perilla....and were just as impressed as the first 2. We had scallops and the apple salad for apps...scallops were fantastic. Apple salad was a nice combo of textures and contrasting flavors. I had the game hen for dinner...not gamey at all...soft, juicy and delicious. My wife had the lobster special, and it was fantastic. The chocolate tasting dessert was pretty much what you would expect - I am not the biggest chocolate lover, but, she is and it was her birthday. On a side note, we had reservations for 9:00....we didn't get seated until 9:30. A little annoying, but the manager gave us a glass of wine to soothe our pain. We will defintely be back in the not too distant future.
