    Best meal

    I went here and did the chef suprise tasting menu. The food was amazing. I have never done a suprise tasting and was very happy I did. The chef picked out some amazing stuff for us. Each thing got better and better. The last thing before dessert was a duck two ways that was amazing. I highly reccommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal with Knowledgeable staff.

    A wonderful dining experience

    This is the second time I've been to Perilla and it has been fantastic both times. It's a lovely little place with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The food is just incredible - I had the crispy wild boar belly and the tasting of milk-fed veal - with satisfying portions. They're just doing an all-around great job there and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

    I was really surprised by how good the food was! The softshell crab, agnoletti and everything else we got (duck meatballs, wild boar, side of mushrooms) were all outstanding! Service was efficient and pleasant. Highly recommended!

    Outstanding Every Time!

    The review below entitled, "Not Recommended," clearly doesn't know food. I have eaten at Perilla many, many times. I have ALWAYS had superb food and service. The staff is educated and helpful without being overzealous. The sign of great service is getting everything you need without having to ask for it. Perilla consistently fits that bill. The food is in a league of its own. Chef Harold shows passion and creativity with a love culinary art. The food is mouth-watering, beautiful and satisfying every time. I wish other restaurants in this city took their menu this seriously. Some of my favorites are the risotto, rib-eye steak for two, calamari salad and hamachi. Plus, there's always something new on the menu each time I visit. Perilla has spoiled me and set the bar very high for dining out. I always look forward to meals at Perilla. It is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Highly recommended from this foodie.

    Absolutely Delicious

    The chefs tasting menu was absolutely delicious and a great way to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Each plate was as unique as it was flavorful. Our server was extremely attentive and paired wine perfectly with our meals. The atmosphere is very relaxed and romantic. Although the meal was pricey, I thought it was completely worth it.

    Sooo Impressed!!

    We came to Perilla for a birthday celebration and it totally delivered.... especially since we consider ourselves NYC "foodies". I was delighted with unique food pairings, delicious execution and very attentive but understated service. Even the hosts and coat check ladies up front--were so warm and welcoming. Truly money well spent on an upscale NYC dining experience. Great taste-unpretentious!!! DEF going back!

    Not Recommended

    We dined at Perilla last evening on the recommendation of a friend. Unfortunately, it was a mistake to have listened to her! Perilla is truly not worth the money we were charged for what was honestly, a very mediocre meal. The atmosphere is bland, the service was on the verge of poor and the food was full of grease and cheese. With so many different tastes, allergies and beliefs why would they mix all their entrees up? It seemed that all the fish had a meat component and the chicken was wrapped in ham! Along with that, cheese seemed to be dripping off every entree and appetizer. A boring piece of white bread was dropped on each of side plates at the beginning of the evening followed by a pouring of a glass of water. Never, during the course of the next 1 1/2 hours did anyone return to refill the water or offer an additional piece of bread. The trigger fish was dry, the pasta with truffles (that we had to pay an additional $13 for!!!) lacked taste and the duck was fair. We passed on dessert because dinner had already risen to almost $200 for 3 of us with only 2 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers and 3 entrees!
