    Unpleasant new years eve

We spent new years eve here, our waiter was delightful and the food was good but twelve different employees tried to take my dish away while i was still eating and then the host brought us our check before we were finished dining. I told them that we weren't finished and they said we had to get up for the table to be turned over. I have never been treated so rudely, and when i told them that we were going to order more drinks they insisted on taking the table back and "buying us a round of drinks at the bar." Needless to say I will not be going back to per lei or any of their sister restaurants.

    havent been back

the food is good. standard italian dishes. we sat outside on a slanted table, which happens on NYC sidewalk outdoor seating unfortunately. the place gets hoppin' at night though with some clubbish music and a fun crowd. very different from other ues spots. it's fun and good food. i havent been back since the one time i went though since the UES is crawling with great italian spots with cute settings. worth trying once though.

    Good, not Great

I have been by this place many times and decided to try it out when my sister was in town visiting. We had one waiter, who was great BUT the girl helping him screwed up our salads and meal orders. The atmosphere was perfect for an NYC summer night. The food was ok, but I was disappointed. Hated the house salad. While it was a decent experience, prob won't be back.

Cool Spot on the Upper East Side

The food, service and atmosphere at this very cool restaurant were terrific. Very attentive service. Could not have been happier.

Hot summer night on the UES

I walk by this place all the time, as it's a few blocks from my apartment. Finally, I convinced a friend downtown to come up and try it out. We sat outside at a slightly slanted table in their outdoor seating area. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and our food was good. We split clams and mussels to start and then she had sweet potato raviolis and I had the chicken paillard. The chicken was slightly dry, but the chocolate lava cake with homemade coconut ice cream made up for any shortcomings from the entrees...would definitely go back.

    great food and fun!

Arrived on Sat. night for a 9:30PM dinner and it was crowded. Very fun environment and great service. Appetizers were the grilled calamari and the artichokes. Main courses were the Dorade ( on the specials) and a pasta. Everything was cooked beyond expectation and we will be returning soon.

    Really Fine Food

We went here for the first time last night. The room is a bit cramped but light and airy with all the floor to ceiling windows. The service seemed fine and friendly although as the evening proceeded they seemed distracted by the people standing at the bar. But the food is what you come here for. The fish we had was very fresh and tasty. They were all cooked just as we asked and were presented in a simple manner. The veal with chestnuts and mushrooms was delish although it could have had some more chestnuts. My soup was actually tepid when it was served. But they replaced it with a bowl that that nicely hot (and clearly not microwaved) and it was some of the best butternut squash soup I have ever had. The other appetizers were all quite good. Dessert was a hot chocolate cake that was sufficient for the 3 of us. We will certainly be back.
