My husband and I ate at Pepolino last night. We chose it because it was across the street from our hotel and we were too tired to go anywhere else and the other reviews were good. We were in for such a pleasant surprise! It's a cozy, rustic space serving "new" Italian food (as opposed to pizza and spaghetti). It took us right back to the food we've had in Tuscany and the atmosphere really reminded us of Italy too. We had the beet salad which was incredibly good... it came with a hint of orange zest, melted gorgonzola (just a bit) and toasted pine nuts. The sliced beets were on a bed of greens. Perfect! I had the wild boar and my husband had the veal. The sauce of both tasted the same but his came with a mound of greens in a lemon dressing which added a different flavor. Both our dishes were really enjoyable, although I really couldn't tell that it was wild boar. Shouldn't it taste a bit like pork? It looked and tasted like beef but still, it was good. The wine was priced at $11 a glass at minimum and we had a glass of pinot noir that went very well with our entrees. What I really liked was the unobtrusive service. I really hate when wait staff interrupt my meal/conversation to ask if everything is ok... it just makes the restaurant experience about them rather than about our enjoyment of the food and each other's company. I much prefer when they're just available to ask for something should we need it. That's exactly how the wait staff at Pepolino were... very available but not trying to be the center of attention. I really wish more restaurants would follow this model. Anyway, it was a very nice, warm experience on a cold winter night.

After living in cental Italy for seven years we were searching for authentic Italian food, not, Italian-American, and we found it at Pepolino's. Every taste brought back memories of Italy, and having our server speak to us in Italian was an added bonus. Delicioso! Complimenti!

We had heard about Pepolino and decided to make it our pre-New Year's treat for lunch. From our initial reservation request through the end of our meal everything was handled with great care and the food was delicious. A warm welcome led us to a table on the second floor where we began with entrees of a spinach souffle and mussles in a garlic broth. Wow. I had the fish special of the day....branzino...cooked to perfection and my friend had fettucine with braised rabbit. We topped it off with an orange creme brulee and a chocolate dessert that was out of this world. I highy recommend Pepolino's...we'll be back!

I dined with 8 friends for a holiday dinner tonight, and we tried an assortment of appetizers, entrees and desserts. All of them ranged from excellent to superb. Of particular note were the octopus and calamari appetizer, the boar entree and two desserts, namely the cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. Our selections from the wine list were perfect....a Gavi and a San Genovese. HIGHLY recommended restaurant for typical, high quality Italian food accompanied by excellent service.

The food was excellently done, and was very tasty. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Specials were around $26.00 but portions were generous. We had the lasagna noodles with veal ragu and the grilled Italian sea bass. Both done to perfection. Fish was very fresh with the grilled veggies and the pasta al dente. The ragu was wonderful. The bread was also very good quality. Our waiter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable with the extensive menu. Service was very efficient. Will definitely return.
