Thank you
I have lived in this neighborhood forever and have never tried this place until tonight. It was awesome. I got takeout because I was dining alone and live nearby, but what I got was excellent and the guy who took my order was friendly and I will definitely be coming back. I got the pasta arabiatta. I eat at Otto, Morandi, Barbuto, Gusto. This is right up there with those...but way cheaper! And just as good. Whoa. Find.

Hit by the recession or perhaps depression
I have been going to this place a long time. The food was once very good at affordable prices. Today I stopped by for the first time in months. A regrettable mistake. I ordered the Lasagana. It was barely enough to be considered an appetizer. It was an extremely skimpy piece about 5 inches long by 2 inches wide consisting of two layers of noodles with what tasted like sauce from a jar with a tiny amount of meat and maybe a hint of ricotta cheese. I ate it in about two minutes and just sat a minute wondering what has happened to this once enjoyable little place. I left feeling like I had not even eaten anything. I will never go back to Pepi Verde! It was a major disappointment for the first time. When I told the cashier what a major disappointment the meal was she simply shrugged as to say I really don't care.

Favorite local joint
One of my favorite local spots -- we go there regularly, great food, great price, amazing!

It's still awesome...
Ignore the person who said the quality has dropped off. Not true! Been coming here for 8 years - if anything, it's even better. Fresh, cheap, delicious! One of the last great deals in NYC. Whenever my parents visit, my father *demands* that we go there for the "best meatballs" he's ever had...

Used to be amazing but no more
Pepe verde has plunged of the edge of a cliff. This place used to have great pasta dishes at a resonable price but their entire staff has changed in the past few months. I thought maybe they just needed some time to get back on track but no. Pasta has not been properly cooked and sauces taste of dish water. The new staff does not understand how to work the register half the time. The complimentary bread is allowed considerably more shelf time before making to your table.

excellent chicken milanese
Delicious, crisp chicken topped with salad greens and tomatoe..... and extra lemon. The complimentary bread was amazingly soft and delicious and actually notable.

Not just pasta
Arguably best in Chicken Milanese in town. With arugula and salsa rosa. Just like they make it in Milano.
