OK, but others are much better

I was sad to see Jasmine go but I wanted to like the new place. But the food was uninteresting and very overpriced. The drinks were overpoweringly sweet. I wouldn't go for dinner; however, with a large group it is cheap to get some guac and sangria and share it around.

    poor mexican

I am a foodie and love trying out new places. This placed seemed fun, and was close to home, so decided to give it a try. It was terrible..empanadas were cold on the inside as if they were (poorly) warmed up in a microwave. They did not give us chips and salsa..you have to buy them? Any decent mexican place in the city will give you chips and salsa with unlimited refills. Main course was nothing special can be made at home by a below average cook. It was an insult to be eating at such a terrible restaurant in nyc where there are so many great places. They need to step it up, if they want to survive in this economy..so many better restaurants have had to close down. If the aren't careful they will soon be gone. Free chips and salsa should be a start...

    great place to unwind

have been to pepe patron a few times as i live near it. menu is great, lots of selection. food is good but some of the items have been hit or miss. fairly pricey unless you stop by during the happy hours. have a nice little private drink area which is fun. they have a hot bartender there sometimes, which is always nice when you're with your guy friends.

    Waste of time and money

Went to this restaurant with a friend on a weekday night. Decor was nice, music was fresh, but service was slow and inattentive. Food looked good but was unappetizing. The corn and tortilla soup was so salty I could not eat more than one spoon before pushing it aside (a first for me). The calamari was cold and rubbery. The guacamole and crab cakes were both average. As much as I love Mexican food, I would not go back :(

    Not recommended

Without hesitation, I can say my experience at Pepe Patron was the most disappointing dining experience I've had in a long, long time. From the filthy, food encrusted menus to the painfully slow, inept service to the poor food. It's not a place I would recommend nor would I ever return. Fajitas': dry, charred and over cooked chicken, shrimp that was so salty it was inedible - all piled on a bed of greasy, limp vegetables. Refried beans and rice were served cold to the touch. Margarita's:OK Guacamole:OK. The service for 6 people took almost 3 hours! The manager who stood in my view the entire night did absolutely nothing to assist his staff that did appear to be short-handed. When we notified the manager how truly disastrous the night was, he became rude and surly making matters even worse. This place will never improve as long as they have management like this. Stay away from this place. If you go, it's likely you'll be hugely disappointed. A big waste of time. A big waste of money.

    Cute little spot!

Cute little spot amidst the construction outside! Waiter was nice. Although some of the other guests were rowdy it just adds to the fun ambiance! Apps were good and so was the main meal. Fajitas are amazing!! Overall a cute spot for date nights and I def want to come here with a larger gp of ppl bc of the very fun atmosphere!!

    Great Mexican

Great new addition to the upper east side onslaught of so so mexican. Wonderful spot that was hard to find... 2nd ave subway nightmare. We loved the food and service was well tended. The Margaritas were HUGE and very tasty. My friend had the sangria and said it was divine. Fun atmosphere and great fish-tank bar all added to what was a memorable night. We'll be back....
