    just not true....

I work at an office near by and we always order lunch there. The rule is that you can't get more than 6 entrees per order at a time. They have always been nice when on the phone. They do not cater large groups and they do not pretend they can. Its a small restaurant.. Thats probably why for the delivery fee.

    Poor service

The service here is not so good. We tried ordering recently and there was a "delivery fee" even though we are just 3 blocks away. You cant order for more than 4-5 people. The people are unapologetic about everything. Dining in, its loud and cramped. The only reason this place is busy is because there are not many good restaurants in Murray Hill and the food here is ok.

    always a hit

My sister introduced me to Penelope when she was unfortunate enough to live in Murray HIll :) But we keep coming back, me for the curried chicken salad which is DELICIOUS (seriously) and her for the chicken meatballs which are also pretty slammin. I hear the mac and cheese is kind of blah, but the stuff I've tried is really good. They also have a good rose sangria, which is awesome in the summer. I just ate the leftovers from my salad and I seriously licked the dressing off the carton. Enough said.

    Poor service, again

This is my second try at this trendy little restaurant. The food was good but greasy. The service was bad. They didn't want us using the table next to us (small tables for 2 that were together) because they said the boss wouldn't like that. There was almost no one else in the place, who was going to sit next to us? The service was slow. The guy who cleaned up the table collected the dishes above me and dropped ketchup on my arm and wasn't too sorry. When you order a soda, they bring you a can and a cup and they don't even open the can for you, as if they are too cool. When a young lady came to collect plates, she took the ketchup plate that we were using and then said, "oh are you still using it" as my friend was holding a french fry, we said yes, she said, "well then I will give it back" as if she were doing us a favor. First try last year wasn't that much different. Big disappointment.

    a new delivery fee?

i have been a very loyal customer since penelope's opened. ive ordered delivery or dined in countless times, ive brought people from the neighborhood and from other areas there, and ive written positive reviews here on menupages. so when i was just informed that there is now a $3 delivery charge above 36th street, i didnt take the news very well. $3 is too much - nevermind the fact i live on the CORNER of 36th! i am just so extremely annoyed that my favorite place in the area is pulling this nonsense.

    Good Place For Lunch

We really liked the vegetarian options. Service was pretty good. Coffee was great.
