I've been living in New York for about three years now and let me tell you, it's great to find a place like Penelope where I can escape for a while. The decor is calming, the food is comforting, and, given the opportunity, their staff eagerly remembers a repeat customer... and sometimes even how you like your burger done up! I discovered the place about a year and a half ago and have gone in probably at least twice a week since. The prices, thankfully, match the feeling that you're in a small New England cafe (low enough to allow you to come back again and again). PS... Brunch is crazy busy but worth it for the cranberry mimosa and pumpkin waffles with cinnamon butter!

This place is overrated. It's always packed for brunch, not exactly sure why. I think it's a trendy spot to go to, so now it's like Murray Hill sheep flocking to pasture. The portions are small, the food is mediocre, and wait is long. Find another brunch spot because this place leaves much to be desired.

Went for brunch and was happily surprised by the townish ambience and the inviting warmth of the service. My wife tried the omellete and I went for the spinach pie. Good, well made, portions would take care of any hunger pains, the coffee and cappucino were fresh and delicious. The service was prompt and witout hurry. Next time we come back we are bringing friends. One more thing, make sure you bring cash.

One of the best salads I've ever had. Split the mac & cheese as an appetizer and had When Veggie Met Sally salad. Nice atmosphere for sharing dinner with friends. Didn't have dessert but the baked goods smelled delicious. Would definitely go back.
