Yes French, New England picket style... unusual. I've had brunch here many times. It is predictable. On a Sat/Sun we have never waited more than 10 minutes to get a table. The staff are pretty good. Food is ok. The acoustics are lousy. This w/e we were on a table adjacent to some horribly spotty child, trying to impress his friend in how much he could talk about himself, and type into his Blackberry, and how much the jobs were paying... which his friend had no chance of getting. On the other side, we had the children of Africa's billionaire plutocrats. This 'me me me, I I I' is all at 100 decibels louder than it needs to be. If you are not 18, expect to have to cup your ears to hear anyone speak. Oh yes, the food. My omelette was overcooked. And when you only have 6 or so items on the menu for brunch this is... a bit surprising!

The weekend brunch is absolutely delicious. however, the wait is always about 45 minutes at least and there isn't much room to wait. the service isn't the friendliest or the best, but hey it is new york. i keep going back to this place for the brunch because it is a great value and delicious! i can't say enough how good the brunch is...but remember it is cash only i think.

I do love the food here, aside from the mac and cheese, which is basically soup, but do not call for delivery. I ordered from them many times and they have always messed up my order. They bring me salad with no dressing, the wrong orders. I no longer will order from here ever again. When we called to tell them they messed up our order, they were rude and didnt really care. You would think that they would have compt. a meal or given us something considering they messed up every single time. instead they made up wait another 40 mins. for the delivery guy to come back. Too bad, because I do love the food, but i cant stand the service. Also they charge for you for every little thing!

i'm sorry. but i was not impressed. the 45 minute wait was friendly. ok. we had brunch, which was fine, not exceptional. It was when the bill came that I got annoyed.. $1.50 for a flimsy slice of bread !?! you must be kidding me.. I don’t care how organic it is.. altogether it was okay, but not exceptional. maybe i need to try it again to get what the other reviews are all about..

When i first tried penelope i lived in the east village and it seemed a little out of the way in respect to public transportation from my apartment. but i went and was instantly won over by the charm, great prices, cheerful staff and of course AWESOME food. now, i drag my friends off my couch in brooklyn to go here.. and they always agree it's worth it! i have been several times with tons of different people and no one is ever disappointed.

Seriously one of the fluffiest yummiest omelettes I've ever had. I've had them in the restaurant (ate at the bar for brunch to avoid the long wait) and also had it delivered. Will never order from a run-of-the-mill diner again for breakfast. This is too good.

I am a concierge in murray hill & I made my new years resolution to try as many restaurants in my neighborhood this year. THIS WAS MY BEST MEAL SO FAR!!! yes, it was a sandwich (chicken meatball with fontina & pesto mayo--WHAT??) and yes, I did have some outrageously yummy carrot & ginger soup & amazing handcut fries....... the topper was not only the delicious cupcakes (I am a cupcake fanatic by the way & they are scrumptious)-- but the fact that the staff went out of their way to give me the ultimate A++ service. (michael especially) kudos to this quaint little belle of our neighborhood & to all the glorious members of her little team!
