Good brunch for one
Penelope is always packed for brunch and I've never wanted to brave the wait with a group, but I went by myself today and got a seat at the bar right away. The pumpkin waffles and the fresh OJ were both really tasty. The staff was super busy, but it wasn't hard to catch the bartender's eye and ask for more condiments, tea, etc. The place was noisy and the food wasn't cheap, but I left full and happy.

Yeah...no
Went today after wanting to dine there for over a year. Atmosphere is very cute. The first server we had was polite and more than happy offer suggestions. I ordered the Veggie Burger from Heaven, my friend a side salad. The food came out in 5 minutes. Although the veggie burger seemed fresh and homemade (as all items on the menu are apparently), it was molded so perfectly with creases in it, it looked like a Boca burger. Despite that, it was good- not great but good. The fries that came with it were, at best, room temperature. No, I didn't say anything because they tasted good, but made me think twice about Penelope's. My friend's Side salad certainly was served on something that was slightly bigger than a bread plate, it had three cranberries on it it and was merely some limp romaine lettuce, leaves falling off the plate. It was the leanest and messiest side salad ever. Yet, our server WAS nice enough to admit there are usually more cranberries on it, and brought some extra with some shaved cheese (very nice. We then acquired a second server (girl), who my friend referred to as a Stepford waitress. She was weird, and inconsistent with the service, yet ever smiley. Lastly, they had banana pudding as a special- it was as special as vanilla Jello pudding with a few slices of banana and 2 Nilla cookies on top. Homemade? Yeah...no. Although we left full, it was just a disappointment. To sum up, my friend kept saying after each issue "Oh, Penelope." I feel the same- Waa waaa.

So worth the trip from the West Side!
Penelope was so worth each and every blister I earn walking from Hell's Kitchen to Murray Hill to dine there.

Yummy all the time
I've been ordering delivery from Penelope for 4 years. Their food is always delicious, simple classics with a little surprise twist such as nutella french toast, or pesto grilled cheese. Most of the staff is awesome, but once in awhile you may catch them on a tough day. I did, but I figure I'd be fussy if I had to deal with a long line outside the restaurant too. I don't understand why their Brunches have such long lines! The food is good, but you can get nearly the same thing Mon- Fri at Penelope's too. All in all, the food is consistently delicious. And EVERYTHING, I do mean everything is good on the menu. I've tried it all. There are great vegetarian and vegan options as well. Don't take my word for it, discover for yourself ;) Bon Appetite.

Great neighborhood restaurant!
Always good food & service & the atmosphere makes you feel like your not in the 'hustle bustle' of the city.

The Staff is SO rude!
I live in the neighborhood and consider Penelope one of the best restaurants around that delivers, but the staff is so freakin' rude. They're arrogant and they act like you're a constant burden; whether you're trying to be seated, "standing in the way" while you're waiting for a table, or calling in for delivery, they're attitude towards you SUCKS. I'm sure not all of the staff is this way, but with the exception of a couple of the male bartenders, the staff is consistently my only issue with this place.

what's the lure? meatloaf?
I passed by this place for many years=the menu never tempted me to venture inside -wondering what the hoopla was all about. Apparently the 30 something singles, like a noisy place to eat/ gather =that serves pretty boring food... no surprises here but for ingredient change in pancakes. There aren't many generic restaurants in the neighborhood, so that must be the lure...as the place is located across the street from a church--no booze is served Oh, the eggs and sausages were ok
