    Couldn't have been worse

Despite the fact that my date and I sat down before two tables next to us, their orders were taken first. It was admittedly busy, and I'm usually very forgiving of waitstaff when a restaurant was packed. We ordered an appetizer (nachos), water, beer, and entrees. The two tables next to us received their drink orders quickly, before we were even given water. After twenty minutes had passed, we flagged down the waitress and asked for our water, beer, and nachos. Before receiving any of those things though, the tables next to us were served their dinner. We again asked the waitress for water and beer and nachos, and eventually did recieve them. While we were waiting, another two tables sat down behind us and had their orders taken. My date and I received our dinner at the same time as those two tables. And our dinner...my cheese tamale was completely inedible. It was nearly impossible to cut with silverwear, dry, cold, hard around the edges, and impossible to chew; I didn't get past the first bite. My date's beef burrito contained exactly that: beef. Even though he asked if there were beans in it and was told yes, there were black beans in it, the burrito was full of unseasoned beef, some white rice, and nothing else--no cheese, no totmatoes, no lettuce, no beans, nothing. Instead of ever asking if we needed more beer or more water, which yes, we did, the tables which entered after us and left before us were bussed although there was no one waiting to be seated. Getting our check wasn't any easier than getting our food. We felt purposefully ignored, and left both hungry and angry. This used to be a great place eat. The last few times I've been there have been disappointing. I doubt I'll go there again.

    some of the worst nachos

Spent a late lazy Sunday afternoon here yesterday... it's got a nice, friendly, laid-back atmosphere, service is fine, no complaints there. But man, we ordered the chicken deluxe nachos and they were truly very nearly inedible (we were starving). 90% nachos, lettuce, and crema -- no detectable cheese, and tiny, tiny shreds of chicken that were far too small to detect with actual tastebuds. Got excited when I spotted one sizable piece -- it turned out to be some rubbery joint-tissue that I had to spit out. Granted, that's all we had, but I eyed a lot of food coming out being served, and it all looked to be the same miserable quality. I don't know WHAT the positive reviews above are about. Maybe it's gone downhill?

Great Food! Great Price!! Worth it!

We found this place through TimeOut's $50 Dates column. Ok.. GREAT FOOD!! but not a date place. It takes you by surprise how, um lets say casual, this place is. But wow, lots of great tasting food for a phenomenal prices. Its weird how the bar is "separate" from the "kitchen". We had to pay separately. I guess its two different owners in the same basement restaurant. But oh well who cares. The experience was worth it. Margaritas were fabulous, even in plastic cups! The poeple were friendly, but there wans't any service. We continually had to get up to get refills, napkins, and even our check. So forget about a waitstaff. My only wish.. ok wishes.. 1) turn down the blaring tejano music at the front door from the cheap boom box and 2) figure out who to cool the restaurant. There was one small A/C by the bar, but not a single ounce of cool air in the main dining area. For a native Texan in New York, I am very pleased to have found this place. We love it!

    Amazing...

Awesome for lunch, dinner or drinks! The food portions are ample and very tasty. Outdoor tables are great for eating or having a beer. The food is so good, from the pork, chicken, burritos and the black beans and rice. Definitely need to stop by a couple times a week to try the variety. Very cheap prices for the quality!

    The origional flavor of DUMBO

As all the new influx of high end full service moves into DUMBO its great to see some of the real BK flavor still going strong!!! Great FOOD and really nice people. Hope they have a long lease!

    Awesome Mexican Dominican Food!

A fusion of great tasting mexican and dominican food, all while listening to local bands that play jazz, rock, or son, depending on the day. Super cheap cash bar, with $3 beers and $5 margaritas. I also recommend the Cuban sandwich.
