    So So

I ordered the Grand Marnier Shrimp. The chef made the unfortunate decision to serve the entree on a bed of shredded lettuce. Not only does lettuce simply not mesh well with an orange cream sauce and broccoli, but because the sauce clung to the lettuce shreads, after picking them out, there was very little sauce left for the rice. My mother ordered the egg drop soup and garlic shrimp. She enjoyed them both.

    Not recommended

I have never written a review in my life, but got such poor service from Pearls, I had to let my fellow foodies know never order take out or eat from this place. I have eaten at Pearls several times over the years. The service nor the quality is same. I placed a 25.00 order and the got it all wrong. I called to let them know they delivered the wrong food and could they please re send the right order. With no apology or regret....the lady said ok..".you will have to pay difference!" I said that is fine and she hung up the phone. When my food arrived the second time 45 minutes later, the delivery guy said "you pay difference first" and dropped my bag of food on the ground to take my 1.00 difference. Then he turned around and left my food on the ground. 25.oo down the drain.

    What happened?

We use to eat at Pearl's fairly regularly and loved everything about the place. Then we moved out of the neighborhood and haven't been there for about a year. Last night, it was my birthday, one of my daughters took me, my wife and two of our grand children there for dinner. Food was still superb BUT the service was horrific. We waited and waited to place our orders. Then when the food did come, and it seemed forever, it was literally thrown on the table. The servers were rude and ignored us if we wanted something else like more napkins. My daughter payed the bill and I don't know how much she tipped. If it was me tipping, and I'm generally a 20% tipper I would have skunked them. There's a great Thai restaurant up in Riverdale where we are now living and it definitely has now replaced Pearl's as our restaurant of choice.

    Delicious

It's hard to find take out Chinese in the Times Square area (unbelievably). This place is really good. It has the added bonus of being very reasonable. I will go here again.

    No Complaints here

Went for dinner last night with some friends and am astonished at the nelly naysayers on here. Hunan cuisine with lots of Szechuan is my favorite specialty of the great land of China. Wings were crispy and spicy just how I like em, dumplings nice and the Roast duck soup amazing. Shared a few dishes for mains- all exellent. Pearls is welcome where there are barely any Chinese places.

good fresh chinese food w/fast delivery

I have been ordering from here since they opened. I would say that 90% of the time it is delicious. the other 10% must be when the main chef has a night off. good steamed dumplings. the chef's special tofu with vegetables has a nice sauce that is different from the regular brown or garlic sauce, the tofu is lightly fried.

    Still disappointing...

We have tried Pearls from time to time since they opened many years ago - sadly, always a disappointing experience. Some of the dishes, usually the appetizers and dim sum, are tasty -- and then there is always the big letdown: lo mein overcooked and greasy, gristly, chewy chicken bits, chunks of slimy mushroom in what is supposed to be an asparagus dish. Amazing there are so many good reviews.
