Patsy's Italian Restaurant

I can't believe the super-positive reviews aren't written by the owner's family or friends. The place is way over priced, the food is incredibly underwhelming, and if we hadn't been caught in a rainstorm probably would have left after a (over priced) drink. The room was filled with long-timers, and half the tables were guys who looked like they were late for a Sopranos casting call. That isn't an issue since those guys usually know hot to eat, but the food itself was so under spiced, and uninteresting, that I could only wonder if it was the 'scene' everyone came for -- possibly -- it certainly wasn't the food. I had fettucine Alfredo (my first was at Alfredo in Rome years ago) and have a vague idea how its supposed to be prepared. This was a lot of tasteless pasta swimming in a soupy tasteless sauce. Sorry, but for $23 you expect an effort, at least. The other Patsy's (e 60th, and chelsea) have great dishes...fairly priced, and the booker in our group thought we were going to one of their spots. Im sorry we didnt. I'll say this: its very New York - if you don't mind giving up an evening of Bonanza to go out to dinner.

I've been going to Patsy's for over 10 years now...It is an outstanding restaurant....Considering all the famous people who have frequented it, the fact that the staff there always remembers me and makes me feel special tells me why it's been in business for 8 decades, and counting....Food is marvelous, service top notch and ambiance, incredible.

A top flight Italian restaurant not far from the Theater District.

Patsy's is top notch, not just for the food (which is marvelous) but also for the service, which is attentive without being overbearing. Always an excellent choice.

While I have never posted a review in my life, I will make an exception for Patsy’s on W.56th St. The Italian fare is consistently excellent, and the people there truly make you feel like family. So, whenever we have family &/or friends out for dinner, it is always our top choice. And no one is ever disappointed. When one walks in the door, you get a friendly greeting from Frank &/or Joe and once seated, not unusual for chef Sal to escape the kitchen and meet-greet guests. No wonder why Frank Sinatra, who would receive VIP treatment no matter where he dined, considered Patsy’s his favorite too (as well as many other celebs). But regardless of whether you are a celeb or not, you are treated like one at Patsy’s or even better, as family.

After hearing of Patsy's for years, we finally made it during Christmas time, and we were delighted! The atmosphere was great, and the food delicious. The service was just right, and the owner and his wife were wonderful. Best of all, we had a super dessert - St. Joseph's cake! Terrific !
