    Great Place - Great Food

I have frequented many NYC restaurants and many more expensive than Patsy's, so perhaps some of my fellow reviewers are not so accustomed to what I consider "reasonable" prices. Yes, the dishes can range anywhere from the high teens to $34 ($32 for the day's fabulous special - a rack of lamb), but considering that many NY restaurants, including Italian restaurants don't service dishes under $25 and that I have had numerous dishes at well over $40, I can hardly say that Patsy's is overly expensive. Now to the actual dining. Last Friday was my younger sister's birthday and so I purchased tickets to see Rent and made reservations for 4 (sister, mother, girlfriend and myself) at Patsys for a pre-theater dinner. My mother ordered the veal rollatine marsala which was excellent. We all tasted and agreed. I had the special of the day, which was a rack of lamb - fabulous, I believe my sister had the Chicken Marsala, which she said was excellent and my girlfirend had the Chicken Parm, which she said was very good (despite the previous reviewers remarks of this dish). The service was excellent. I ordered Clams Arreganata and 2 orders of the Freshly Roasted Peppers and Mozzarella for the table. The server brought it out in separate plates for each, pre-portioned, which I though was great service and initiative. Our wine was poured frequently by the server and water was refilled on a consistent basis. Our server ensured that everything was just right. In any event this dinner for 4, with three of us also getting dessert/coffee, was suprisingly inexpensive at $250 (including tax, excluding tip). Before going, I was anticipating spending approximately $400 as this was actually a highly recommended (through word of mouth) restaurant. Although my girlfriend and I dine like this regularly, this was an entirely new experience for both my mother and my sister, who both absolutely loved the night. Overall, this restaurant was extremely pleasing and I would definitely return, theater or not!

Good but Over Rated and Over Priced

We ate there once lured by its effective advertising. Food was very good but not great. We were seated downstairs and halfway thorugh the meal, our waiter went upstaris to serve. We sat there with no service until I finally went to the maitre'd to complain. There are better Italian restuarants within walking distance, even if Frank Sinatra and pals did not frequent them.

    A good place to go

The food was very good and the atmosphere pleasant. We will go there again when we are in New York.

    Not impressed

Recently took family members who were visiting from out of town because they had heard about it. I was not impressed! I had the chicken parm--portion was large, but as said below, no pasta and $24! It was rather tasteless as well...reminded me of the chicken you got in a high school cafeteria and overpriced. The service wasn't anything to write home about....the host demanded my grandmother remove her jacket even though it was cold and raining outside to check it. The atmosphere was nice, but there are at least a handful of better Italian restaurants within the area. Will not return or recommend!

    Over Priced

The food is ok at best. However the value is hopeless. The Chicken Parmigian cost $24.00 with no pasta. Pasta is pennies. Why not? The service was ok but a little pompous at times. This is a typical tourist trap in my humble opinion.

    Well worth trying

We loved it! We went for lunch with some friends who are visiting from Australia, and they were so happy we made it before they go back. My husband had the Chicken Cacciatore (this you can have boneless as well as traditional) and he loved it. The atmosphere is great as it's a warm friendly environment. I can't wait to go for dinner. PS: the Clams Casino appetizer is wonderful, and the desserts are to die for.

    First time at Patsy's

This was our first time at Patsy's and we will definitely return! A late supper proved that the food was excellent and the people watching even better. The Baldwin brothers -- Alec and Stephen -- came in and were seated two tables behind us and then P. Diddy made an appearance and was seated two tables to the right. Patsy's is a definite "must see" in NYC.
