Patsy's Italian Restaurant

We went to Patsy’s last week and it was an incredible disappointment. This is the second time I have been to Patsy’s. The last time was in 2010. When we went in 2010, it was excellent. We were greeted warmly, treated well and were assisted by the server in making the choices for our meal. When we went last week, however, things had changed greatly. First of all, we were “greeted” by an incredibly rude man. My fiancé was wearing a hat and the man all but yelled at him that no hats were allowed in the dining room. Please be advised, I have no problem with no hats in the dining room. I do, however, have a problem with being snapped at by a rude man when he could have just as easily told us politely. Beyond that, our server was not much help at all. He didn’t even tell us about the specials of the day until after we had ordered our appetizer. When he did finally tell us (because we asked), we said we would have ordered the special if we hadn’t already ordered a different appetizer and he said that it was no problem since he hadn’t put the order for the appetizer in yet. When we asked his opinion on the best things on the menu he basically said everything was good and was not much help, at all. Also, he walked around the dining room with a towel draped over his forearm which he literally used to wipe his nose with. When we received our appetizer, which was a Burata cheese dish, it was delicious. Our entrees, however, were terribly disappointing. We ordered the Bucatini all’Amatriciana and the Penne alla Vodka. They were both very bland. We kept adding cheese to compensate for the lack of flavor but were not able to make it much better. I am not Italian and I can make a better Amatriciana and Vodka sauce than Patsy’s. I think there are two problems with Patsy’s...first, because of the fact that they are such a well-known, “famous” restaurant supported by Frank Sinatra, they have no need to excel. Second, because of their location they will have business for a long time to come - there is no need for improvement. Also, the clientele seems to be primarily tourists who don’t know any better. To his credit, the chef did come out and ask if we were enjoying ourselves. But, overall, it was a terrible disappointment. With all of the amazing places to eat in NY, we will definitely not go back to Patsy’s.

My father and uncle took me to Patsy's, I have continued to dine at Patsy's and now I have brought my children to Patsy's. Need I say more? From the 1950's to 2014 Patsy's has delivered consistent high quality authentic Italian cuisine. You must order the Spedini Ala Romana and the Veal Rolatini ala Marsala. If you can squeeze it in get shrimp marinara and pork chops pizziola. they are old time favorites. You can';t go wrong with this old line traditional fine quality restaurant.

Whenever we're in NYC my wife and I make it a special time by dining at Patsy's. Today we enjoyed an early dinner with the wonderful Scoglamilio family and their terrific team. We had the antipasto classico, stuffed artichoke, veal piccata, shrimp parmigiana, lemon sorbet, and Italian cheesecake. The food was delectable, the service exceptional, and the ambience perfect. Patsy's was a favorite of Frank Sinatra and is a favorite of ours for good reason...they always please!

Patsy's never disappoints! Their attentive staff and friendly owner Sal, provide the perfect warmth & hospitality to merge with excellent food. The produce is simply fresh and dishes authentically italian. They are more than generous with their portions. Every entree will feel like it is right out of the oven of a native Italian!

This is a restaurant that I head to every time I go to NYC. It is the real deal and is frequented by many big names though that is not the draw. The food is great, well-prepared, and timed to perfection. The service is also the best.

Love this restaurant, always have always will. What is great about it, besides the traditional italian fare that is prepared to perfection(Yum especially on the zucchini fritti and clams oreganata) is that is it consistently excellent. And such a warm and welcome atmosphere. It is still operated by the original family--so you know it's up to par! This place is NY's real Italian deal!
