How can they treat people this way?

Went in for a meal. They said they couldn't seat anybody, but would take us to their interconnecting Italian restaurant (same owners/kitchen) next door. We explained to them that we didn't WANT Italian food, and that they had FOUR empty tables in their "French" restaurant. They put us at the worst table, and we were assaulted by noise over their loudspeakers throughout the terribly average, expensive meal. They had better clean up their act.

    welcome to the neighborhood

Located in the heart of Little Italy, surrounded by red sauce, Patois' recent move to Manhattan should be celebrated by neighborhood residents. The somewhat kitschy array of bottles and figurines, butterscotch tin roof, and general bistro decor give off a welcoming vibe, which is echoed in the attentive service and comforting, quality food. There are no frills here - just well executed, standard bistro fare - but little touches like the chive butter, served with a generous portion of crusty bread (which would have been better served warm, but which we nonetheless devoured) made for a memorable evening. The fillet steak special was perfectly cooked (medium rare for one of us, and bloody for the other - just the way we'd ordered them!) and the red wine pan sauce so tasty we both wiped our plates clean. Scallops with a pea, corn and bacon risotto was light, seasonal, and truly delicious and the burger, while not the juiciest ever, was quite good (the individual who ordered it highlighted the cibatta roll and crispy fries as particularly memorable, but after sharing one bite with me plowed through the rest with gusto that suggests he really enjoyed the whole thing). Finally, I must call attention to the prices - the $19.95 prix fixe option is a steal given the quality (and substantial portion size) of the food and indeed the overall experience. Brooklyn's loss is Manhattan's gain, and I for one hope this relocation sticks.

    Brunch Bummer

I went for the $13 brunch prix-fixe which seemed like an amazing deal but turned out to not be worth it. The waiter seemed pretty unfriendly but was not rude, the waitress on duty was nicer. The mimosas tasted like pretty bad juice with no champagne- and my mac and cheese entree was subpar- it was so heavy- like it was made with a pound of flour and it had no crunch. I would not go back
