See, eat and be seen...
I suppose that's what the meatpacking is all about and so is this place. Service was amazingly quick, it was quite late and the place was still crowded so we had a light supper. My fries were excellent (french style) and arrived hot and crunchy. The hamburguers were just ok. It's an ok place for a light affair, I wouldn't go there if i was really hungry. Two hamburgers, fries and 3 draft beers run up to almost 80$

Not a fan
The food is mediocre, the crowd and service the same.

Good food, great service, noisy
On a recent weekend in the city, My husband and I had a late Saturday supper at Pastis. Despite the crowds, we were seated promptly at our reserved time, 9:45. My oysters were terrific...3 west coast and 3 east coast. My husband's tuna nicoise was also very good, as was his carrot ginger soup. I had the grilled vegetable salad. Also quite good and very well dressed and seasoned. The service was amazing. I can't figure out how they can serve the food so fast. I would defeinitely go back. I think its a bargain!

For name-droppers, not food lovers
Disappointing. The crowd was a mix of chelsea boys, tourists, and the young and the clueless. Loud, over-crowded, and the food, while decent, bore no resemblance to the prices being charged. That said, I'm young and fashionable, so I'll probably be back... but next time I'll be smart, get an overpriced cocktail and a light dish, and focus on the task at hand... being seen!

Somewhat dissapointed
I admit, I first wanted to eat at Pastis because of the numerous times it was mentioned in Sex & The City. So on a Saturday early afternoon, I made reservations & couldn't get a table any earlier than 3. We got there but ended up waiting around 15 minutes for our table to be set. When we sat down, we were no more than 8 inches away from the next table. The entire restaurant was very cozy, but probably because it was so crowded and very noisy! Our waiter was friendly & didn't mind explaining things on the menu. I ordered a hamburger and my friend ordered a salad. The food came out very quickly and it was pretty good. Their french fries are delicious! We also shared a chocolate mousse which was definitely overpriced. I think I'd go back there again.

Fun atmosphere, basic food
Went with for dinner on Tuesday around 7:45 and was seated right away. The service wasn't very good (our waiter seemed to forget about us for most of the night) and the food was decent, but nothing to write home about. But the atmosphere was fantastic, if you don't mind being crowded and having to talk very loudly. It's lively and energetic and fun: some of the best ambience around ...

Pricey...but good food
I am from PA and since i am a frequent NYC visitor, i decided to try Pastis because it was highly reccomended to me by a friend who lives in Manhattan. Well...my group of 5 had reservations and we were seated promptly. Let me tell you...it is pricey, but concidering NYC it's not that bad. I got a Caesar salad and shared fries with a friend. My bill ran me roughly $20.00----not too bad. The only thing that bugged me was the drinks..i got a small glass of soda (6 oz.) and it was 2.00----and refills were not free....but other then that it was enjoyable. I would reccomend Pastis to anyone who does not mind alot of noise and is in to celeb hunting. :-)
