Rude hostess
Decided to go to Pastis after a long hiatus. Was so shocked by the rudeness of the hostess when asked what the wait would be that I eventually gave up. I realize that the place was busy, but there was no line to get in. I asked what the wait would be and the hostess refused to tell me until my dining partner arrived. I asked what the average wait would be since I wanted to decide if it was worth staying or selecting another location. She refused to tell me and rudely insisted I can either come back when my party arrived or whatever... not her problem. Her tone, attitude and overall demeanor was so off putting that we decided to go elsewhere. I guess I wont be coming back again for another many years if ever. Not worth the attitude... life is too short!

soooo tired
It's off our list henceforth. Used to blow in here for some good steak tartare, steak sandwich etc. Our waiter was either hungover or half dead, nice guy but just couldn't put together we were paying customers. The steak sandwich was blah but the worse part was the queasy feeling we had for two hours because of the french fries. Or maybe the worse part (at lunch) was the parade of cheesy women in their sparkly outfits, quelle une drag. Too many new exciting places to go. Adieu Pastis.

The most unappetizing tuna nicoise I ever ordered
Tasteless, excessive sardines, and overcooked tuna. I am just glad that my company covered the nineteen dollar charge. We ordered takeout so I can't comment on service, but the salad wass bland and incredibley disappointing. I shouldve just ordered a burger and frites.

Great Evening
Pastis offered an amazing ofering and quite authentic French menu. The staff was friendly and fun, and the Resturant was very accomadating for late arrivees with our party. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I will definitly be going to Pastis again!

Best meal - ever
We were at Pastis last week and I can genuinely say that it was one of the best meals I have ever had. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicous food and wine. Does it get any better than that.

Quelle surprise!
Having experienced living amongst the French has left my general appreciation for their cuisine at a low ebb. I only agreed to go to Pastis because my partner's boss gave us a gift card. I was grateful, yet expected to get snobby service in a cramped environment and to walk out in search of the nearest Halal Truck. I couldn't have been less correct! I arrived before my partner. I was greated swiftly and kindly. I noticed the maître d’ take note of my broad physique and sit me where I would feel less cramped. I wasn't made to wait until my party was complete. And I had plenty of eye candy amongst the staff to entertain me as I waited for my partner! My partner was sat swiftly. We weren't snubbed when we chose tap over bottled water. We had an excellent, knowledgeable server who assisted - rather than rushed - us in making our choices and didn't snub us when we passed on an appetizer. We were swiftly served an amazing assortment of rustic bread. We weren't crazy about the wine glasses but were pleased with the wine service of our excellent bottle of Beaujolais! Our meals arrived quickly, prepared exactly as ordered. I had the best Steak Frite I've ever eaten, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, with one of the best bearnaise sauces I've ever had. My frites were fried a second too long, but were still excellent. My partner's Arctic Char was perfectly seared yet thoroughly cooked, with the perfect balance of moisture & flakiness. It was served with an amazing couscous, balsamic glaze, and a vegetable mixture akin to ratatouille. We ordered a side of the Macaroni Gratin and about died! We playfully fought over this amazingly divine dish! The Fillet of Char was a bit on the small side for $24..but the flavor and presentation more than compensated. The Steak Frite was a steal for $32. It's more than enough for two meals! The gratin was a bit pricey at $15 for a small, cast iron, oversized ramekin..but so good we didnt' care. We highly recommend this as a treat over Americanized macaroni & cheese. We were both so full that we had to pass on an excellent dessert and port menu. We were so pleased with the service and atmosphere that we tipped well over 20%. We understood why people say the space is cramped..but we only felt that way about the area on the bar side; the dining room side has plenty of space with servers who are very conscious about making you as comfortable as possible. If you have the room in your budget, make time for Pastis!
