    Wouldn't go back!

Last night went there with my friend-I made a reservation ahead, but judging by how empty the restaurant was on Thursday night-we could easily just walk in and get a table. Servants were unsure of themselves and not as attentive (place was almost empty). All six of them lined up along the wall and watched people eat-really weird and uncomfortable! Decor was a bit 'heavy' and dated, so was the crowd-my only requirement was 'Please, no kids!', but we definitely got our wishes 'come true', LOL! it was quiet 'dead' in there! Food was 'so-so'-nothing memorable nor even tasty-I bet most of it was pre-frozen... I'd say there are far better Medetirazian restaurants to explore-won't go back!

    Not recommended

The decor is dated and dirty, the servers are rude and cold (at one point 3 of them stood together with their arms crossed staring at the diners, so weird) and the food is just unappetizing. I got the grape leaves, which were clearly frozen and microwaved and tasted like mush. Also, we were served not 1 but 2 wine glasses that had clear lipstick stains on them. Neither glass looked like it had been washed at all. When we informed the server, he barely even apologized. This places needs a major renovation...NY deserves much better!

    Poor Service!

I visited this restaurant with 2 vegetarian friends who struggled to find anything vegetarian on the menu. They eventually were able to piece a meal together from appetizers, but failed to notice the $20 minimum per person. Throughout the evening, we had trouble getting attention from the wait staff even though the restaurant was not crowded (especially for a Fri night in NYC). When they brought out the main course for the rest of the party, the waiter spilled a full glass of water on my father! He apologized but did not assist quickly in helping to clean up. As he removed the water glass from the table, he dropped it again all over my entree (which was sent back). We had to request new cutlery and napkins and little attention was paid to the mess. When the bill arrived, the waiter informed us that we had not met the $20 minimum per person. We asked to speak to the manager given the service and lack of veggie options who came over and brusquely stated that the bad service was not his problem. He also recommended we stiff the waiter if the service was poor and that he was unwilling to accommodate our party for not meeting the minimum per person. When we realized that the manager had absolutely no idea what it means to be in a service industry, we paid the remaining balance and decided to inform others that this is NOT a restaurant to visit if you are trying to have a nice, relaxing dinner with decent customer service.

    Excellent All Around!

I ate here last Friday with my two girlfriends for one of our birthdays. we started off with the calamari and the Sigara Boregi which were both delicious....the calamari fresh, tender and very crispy! My main course was the grilled chicken kabobs...the best ever! The birthday girl doesn't like cake so they brought out a beautiful fruit plate garnished with walnuts and then drizzled with honey...delish! The service was fantastic, the food excellent...can't wait for another occasion so I can visit it again!

    Profoundly Mediocre

Joined a friend who had eaten here once before and loved it; we were both underwhelmed on this visit, to put it kindly. I ordered an appetizer of Kalamar Tava, thinking that the Turks might have a novel preparation of calamari--lightly breaded and probably pre-frozen like every other lazy establishment in the tri-state area with an enormous dish of undistinguished garlic mayonnaise for dipping--yuck on both fronts. My dinner mate opened with a red lentil soup which was the success of the evening, accompanied by the Beyiz Panir, thick slabs of grilled feta--again, nothing novel or special; just bland. My entree was the Hunkar Begendi which was an extremely unappealing lamb stew with no artfulness detected in the combination of smoked eggplant, roasted lamb, and mystery special sauce--no flavor combinations, just grilled lamb dumped on cold smoked eggplant puree and squirted with ?? sauce. The setting is lovely and the staff is friendly and attentive but with a single drink each our tab totaled nearly $100 including tip. For what? Would neither visit it again, nor recommend it to anyone. There's a reason their awards are from the 1999-2001 range...and there's nothing to eat here. Move along!

    Love this place!

This is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. The food is always great and the service excellent. My favorite meal is the coban salad followed by the baby lamb chops. Yum!
