    Surprisingly Closed!

It was our first wedding anniversary and we made plans to eat at Park Blue prior to seeing a show. We were looking for a 'date' place that was cozy, where we could sip a few drinks and snack on casual but delicious food! Well, upon arriving on a Saturday evening in early October, we found a simple printed sign on the window stating they were closed for vacation. Suspicious considering there were no return dates posted. Even worse I had called a few days earlier to see whether reservations were needed and the phone just rang and rang, no recorded message to save us the trouble! We ended up at Bobby Van's Grill which was excellent so as they say, everything happens for a reason.

The burgers are absolutely amazing. Really nice atmosphere. It's a great date place.

    Tables?

Very uncomfortable tables at a weird height. My legs did not fit under them and I needed to sit sideways. Aside from that the food was outstanding. The pork shoulder was so so tender. We were starving and had to request bread as they do not bring it to you.

    a welcome surprise

my wife and i spend winters in spain regularly, and park blue came as a welcome surprise to us both. the grilled shrimp skewers were bursting with flavor and of generous size. the crispy tuna roll was more like a half-cooked tuna morsel know before you go and you won't be disappointed. and finally, the three cheese gougeres were so buttery and rich that my wife and i licked one another's fingers clean after the meal, or at least we would have if the lighting had been just a tad dimmer. sadly, our final dish the mac and cheese never arrived. (the waiter practicing portion control?)

    Great location for business dinners

Following the recommendation of a friend, I stopped by Park Blue before a concert at Carnegie Hall to see if it would be a good place to take clients. The atmosphere is elegant yet understated-- it simply "works" and seems perfect for a relaxed business dinner. I sat at the bar, but the tables looked very nice and my server told me there is a private dining room. My server--a friendly and knowledgeable NYU law graduate--recommended a nice red (Chinon) from the Loire Valley. I had not tried it before and it was excellent by itself and a nice compliment to the food. She also recommended two items from the small plates menu, the veal meatballs in creamy polenta and the shrimp skewers. Both were excellent, but the real surprise was the mini cheeseburger. The beef was extremely high quality and the tomato confit, "house pickled" caramelized onions and cheddar were perfectly framed by a slightly sweet brioche. I plan to return with clients the next time I am in NY and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Prices are reasonable (in fact less than I would expect) and the staff is absolutely first rate. One of the owners came by and introduced himself and made sure I felt at home. Park Blue is a great find and I look forward to becoming a regular customer.

    Great Tapas Restaurant

My wife and I have been to Spain for a month so we know Tapas! We visited Park Blue around 6 pm before the crowds came and had a wonderful time at this small, intimate restaurant. Food, service, ambiance and background music were great. We had a carafe of wine to go with our meatballs in red sauce and ham dishes. They were super, but the best was yet to come. The scallops with pork bellies were the tastiest and freshest we have ever had. A must if you go to this restaurant. Also exquisite was the roast duck. Great place, friendly and knowledgable waiters. We highly recommend.

    Not Great

My wife and I had decided to try this place after noting the favorable reviews here but, unfortunately, my dining experience at Park Blue left very much to be desired. I found the decor much too dark and the music kind of out of place and loud for such a small and intimate space. We ordered the octopus, fries, the mini burgers, veal meatballs and also had drinks. Our cocktails were great, but the octopus we ordered was cold when it arrived and the burgers dry. Our dishes weren't terrible, just not great. We didn't stay very long and ended up moving on to a more reliable neighborhood haunt.
