    One of my favorite places!

Pappardella... I love this place. The flat noodle that the restaurant is named after is made in the house freshly every day. There are several choices on the menu but the best one is the Pappardella Broccoli Rabe with Veal Milanese. The pasta is thick, soft and serves as the perfect comfort food with a glass of the house chianti. The wine is generously served, well worth the 10 bucks considering the portion. Their homemade tiramisu and cannolis can't be beat for the UWS. Be warned, most pastas travel well for delivery but the Pappardella noodle must be eaten fresh in the restaurant as when it cools it sticks togethor. I'll be coming here as long as I am around!

    Exactly what we wanted.

Dark and cozy Italian joint. We don't like to be rushed and/or constantly hounded by our waiters... and I'm a fairly picky eater. Very surprised that I couldn't decide what to order, so many great choices! Tthe food was excellent, wine was tasty, and the waitress could care less if we sipped wine for the rest of the night until we were ready to leave. Respected us, not hounded us. Lovely. All around, one of my favorite restaurants on the UWS. But please listen to the other quite negative reviews, and stay away so I can keep this place a secret!!

    Not recommended for delivery

We have ordered from this restaurant several times before without any issues. That was until the other night. We waited for over an hour before we called back to check on the status of the order and were informed that the delivery person was "missing". When the food did eventually arrive, it ended up being completely the wrong order. While the food is good at Pappardella, I would skip ordering in from here, and suggest to eat at the restaurant instead.

    Disappointed.

Nice looking and sounding menu, cozy surroundings...but...our waitress had no personality whatsoever, didn't smile once, and most importantly...the food was barely above "OK". the salmon was overcooked and over sauced, the crab meat pasta special was tasteless, bland, and dry, and the eggplant penne was undercooked and just boring. the bruscetta and wine were great, but that's really about it. don't waste your time...there's much better italian just a few blocks away.

Owned by Indian Restaurant next door!

I found out this place is owned by the Indian restaurant next door! That explains why the food does not taste like authentic Italian. Since this place was remodeled, it went completely downhill. I don't know what happened. However, try the Indian next door, it's actually quite good, but not as good as Indigo down the street.

    What a disappointment

After reading the reviews posted here we thought that Pappardella would offer a great Italian meal but it didn't pan out. On the plus side, the restaurant has a charming atmosphere. After that the disappointment begins. The prosciutto and melon was presented sloppily and the prosciutto was average. After specifically requesting that the salad come before the entree and to be given enough to time to finish it before the entree was served, we were handed our entrees in the middle of eating our salads. The clams in the linguini with clam sauce were rubbery. The pasta in both dishes was overcooked. The red sauce on one dish was pasty and dried out. The waitress looked bored when we told her our meals were disappointing suggesting to us that such complaints must be commonplace. It was really such a let down when we had been so hoping for great Italian meal during our stay in NYC. When we told locals later about our experience they just nodded knowingly and said that it was certainly not a restaurant any of them would pick to get good Italian.

    Salty-Salty-Salty

After reading the reviews here, I decided to try out Pappardella. Disappointed is the best way for me to describe the experience. After sitting down Sat. nite, the service started out ok-we where greeted and ordered a bottle of wine quickly. We ordered appetizers-i had the asparagus with pesto and mozzarella. It was very salty-but i thought they just liked to prepare the pesto salty(and with cream). I chose the veal Parmigianna for dinner and opted for the $3.00 upcharge for penne in tomato sauce. The al entree was also as salty as the pesto. i had to drink 4 glasses of water with dinner and could not wait to have something sweet. The sauce was so overwhelmingly salted that i barely tasted the veal that was descibed as "buttery" on the menu. Nothing subtle here. The dinners where served about a minute after the appetizers where finished, but it took about 10 or 15 minutes for our dinners to be cleared and about 10 more minutes for our cappuccino and desert to be served. At $175.00 for two(with tip) I don't recommend going.
