Owned by Indian Restaurant next door!
I found out this place is owned by the Indian restaurant next door! That explains why the food does not taste like authentic Italian. Since this place was remodeled, it went completely downhill. I don't know what happened. However, try the Indian next door, it's actually quite good, but not as good as Indigo down the street.

What a disappointment
After reading the reviews posted here we thought that Pappardella would offer a great Italian meal but it didn't pan out. On the plus side, the restaurant has a charming atmosphere. After that the disappointment begins. The prosciutto and melon was presented sloppily and the prosciutto was average. After specifically requesting that the salad come before the entree and to be given enough to time to finish it before the entree was served, we were handed our entrees in the middle of eating our salads. The clams in the linguini with clam sauce were rubbery. The pasta in both dishes was overcooked. The red sauce on one dish was pasty and dried out. The waitress looked bored when we told her our meals were disappointing suggesting to us that such complaints must be commonplace. It was really such a let down when we had been so hoping for great Italian meal during our stay in NYC. When we told locals later about our experience they just nodded knowingly and said that it was certainly not a restaurant any of them would pick to get good Italian.

Salty-Salty-Salty
After reading the reviews here, I decided to try out Pappardella. Disappointed is the best way for me to describe the experience. After sitting down Sat. nite, the service started out ok-we where greeted and ordered a bottle of wine quickly. We ordered appetizers-i had the asparagus with pesto and mozzarella. It was very salty-but i thought they just liked to prepare the pesto salty(and with cream). I chose the veal Parmigianna for dinner and opted for the $3.00 upcharge for penne in tomato sauce. The al entree was also as salty as the pesto. i had to drink 4 glasses of water with dinner and could not wait to have something sweet. The sauce was so overwhelmingly salted that i barely tasted the veal that was descibed as "buttery" on the menu. Nothing subtle here. The dinners where served about a minute after the appetizers where finished, but it took about 10 or 15 minutes for our dinners to be cleared and about 10 more minutes for our cappuccino and desert to be served. At $175.00 for two(with tip) I don't recommend going.

Delicious
I went to dinner at Pappardella tonight and it was amazing! The mussels were in a delicious tomato/wine sauce and the lobster ravioli were fantastic! The sauces were amazing and I will definitely go back!

Best Around
While delivery may be lacking I have always found this place to be on top of their game for many years. First time I went was over 10 years ago and still to this day the pasta is great, wonderful staff, decent affordable wines. This is always high on my list of must visits.

Delivery not recommended
This place advertises delivery but every time I call they tell me that there is no delivery that night. I have offered to come pick it up and still I end up waiting there for like 20 minutes after waiting 20 minutes after I call. Still, if you do have to wait they give you a drink while you wait. And the food really is worth it, just I'd save the ordering in hassle and just go eat there.

Great Great Pasta
I have ordered a few times from Pappardella and each time has been better than the next. I saw the other review and the delivery was a little slow once but the other times were fine. Plus, the pasta is terrific and they have the largest selection I have seen on the West Side. Try the buttera pasta if that's your thing and you will be impressed. When I ate there with some friends the restaurant was busy but the service and food were very good. Something you never seem to get enough of these days is attentive serive, but this place is on top of their game and has been for a while from what I have heard. Keep it up guys, I'll be back soon - next time with a date..
