    Amazing Pizza

I always order the pizza for delivery here. rather than that junk food feeling after ordering yourself a huge pizza - you feel like youve eaten a good and healthy pizza! the arugula and procuitto is the best and finish off with a Tiramsu and you get the italian experience in your living room while watching american idol! what could be better!?

    Lacking flavor

Went for a quick bite before a concert. I ordered a "special" described as tri-color pasta (linguine) with garlic, oil, fresh tomatoes and sea scallops. I don't remember if the waiter described how the scallops were cooked (ie sauteed, grilled, whatever). The dish turned out to be fresh pasta, which I like; it was in a bland sauce, with a lemony flavor, not really garlicky at all. But the scallops - there were about nine of them plopped on top of the dish - were, to my taste, undercooked, and utterly without any flavor whatsoever. They had either been steamed separately for a very short time and simply placed on the dish or perhaps had been thrown on top of the pasta while still in the pan and covered for a few seconds. Other than the application of heat, there was no preparation whatsoever. If you're the type of person who enjoys breaking open a scallop shell at the beach and eating it alive, you would enjoy this dish. I'm not big on sending things back (I must assume that this preparation was intentional), so I just ate the pasta and left the scallops on the plate. When the busboy came to collect the plates, my wife told him to tell the chef that the scallops were not properly cooked. I doubted he understood what she was saying and sure enough, he brought back a doggy-bag. My wife then told the waiter, who I could see, told the maitre'd, who chose not to come over to the table. Perhaps he thought we were looking for a freebie, but i would've liked to discuss it. My daughter ordered Scampi, which was okay, but also lacking in flavor. The chef apparently has no interest in garlic. I would go there again, but I would interrogate the waiter about fish preparation or order something else.

    Great food - subpar service.

We have been more than just loyal customers for about a year now - until recently. We loved the food and the environment but the service is just subpar- can't even describe it. The manager and the host are both rude - they ruined a handful of our nights.

My wifes lasagna has new competition

SO it was one of the cold January Saturdays where no one wanted to venture too far from the neighberhood so we decided to pop into Pappardella. It was busy when we arrived so we waited by the bar and grabbed some (huge) glasses of wine and were treated to bruschetta by the bartender. A good start so far. We were seated shortly after and the waitress went over the specials which all sounded like reliable, hearty Italian fare (ossobucco, fra diavolo).. When she got to the lasagna though I was sold. It arrived perfectly hot, gooey and ooozing with a swirl of cheeses and sauces. I have to say that my wifes lasagna conquers all but Pappardella has just dethroned her. Sorry babe but it's really that good.

    Always been exceptionally pleased.

I've eaten at Pappardella at least a couple of dozen times over the past years, and have always been pleased with the quality of the food and the efficiency of the service. I go here not only because I can depend on the food, but because I know I'm guaranteed a pleasant time.

    uhhh

Went there last night and it started off well with the wonderful NYC treat of sighting a very impressive celebrity sitting at one of the front tables. The staff was very attentive, nice atmosphere, the appetizers were good and the house Merlot great! All was well unitl I ordered the fish special - it was actually so bad I couldn't even eat it - with a small portion of tasteless potatoes - very disappointed. My boyfriend was taking me out for the holiday before he was leaving so I did not want to say anything to the waitress... on our romantic evening but YUCK! Oh and the fish that was inedible was almost $30.

    pretty good

I have been with friends more than a few times now and it is consistently pretty good. I generally go with a pasta dish and the best I have had is the penne bolognese. It was really something special. I would steer clear of the squid ink pasta with caperberries, just doesn't quite gel. Service wise it has been hit or miss. It seems management isn't interested in forcing everyone into a mold, so the waitstaff's personalities shine through, for better or sometimes worse. Wine list is a bit over priced, but hey...it's the Upper West Side. Friends are always happy with the quality of food, even the pizza was well accepted. Over all I'd say it's a nice night out. Don't go expecting Babo and you probably won't be disappointed.
