The best Mexican food in NY!
Not only is their food absolutely delicious but their service is wonderful! They treat you like family, the amount of food that you get for the price you pay is amazing.

The only Mexican restaurant you need
Hands down. This place never lets me down. I don't usually leave reviews but I just had to for Papacitos!

Best place in Greenpoint
I've been a regular of Papacitos for years, since it was half the size it is now, and the atmosphere was kinda punk rock (in a good way). There's a reason why it has expanded into a larger restaurant and remains popular among all the locals-- the food is great and reasonably priced, and the people are great. Papacitos has consistently been good to me. I'm a vegan, and it can be tough to find a place that understands and respects that. They don't just have one token vegetarian/vegan dish, they have many delicious options. The service has always been friendly, if you come in enough, they remember your order, and the staff is always pretty wonderful. A couple of negative reviews I read seemed unsympathetic to what happens when a place is really hopping the way Papacitos can be... to that I say simple understanding is in order. Mistakes can sometimes happen, they're not done intentionally or with any malice, which is more than I can say for some of those nasty reviews. I personally hate the fact that someone can have one "bad" experience (its never that serious, folks) and decide to get anonymous revenge by posting bile on the internet. Its really unfair to a great place like Papacitos. That said, glad its doing as well as it is, its truly a lovely place-- it deserves it. If you're a first time customer, you'd do well to try this place out, Papcitos rocks.

Cheap n easy, always satisfies
So, the place isn't perfect and there's graffiti in the bathroom now which is not classy, but this place has saved me and my bf from eating cereal for dinner or spending $50 out. Happy hours are very decent (although their frozen margs are a little too sweet); drinks are tasty but not super-strong; nachos are awesome esp if you get real cheese and not nacho cheese. I love that they're super super accommodating to vegetarians and vegans--vegan sour cream, vegan cheese, even vegan options where you dont have to request anything special to get it vegan. And tons of vegetarian options--spicy tempeh, grilled veggies, seitan asada. Meat is good too, especially the fish--grilled not fried (unlike Calexico, theirs is fried and a little greasy, but also tasty!)...anyway, tasty all around, and cheap. The service isn't perfect but they get the job done; lately it's been great but I know it has been uneven in the past. It's cheap enough that it's all good in the end.

Awesome if you let it be
This place is pretty punk rock. I understand some of the bad reviews on service. I'm a regular here, and everyone is always super nice to me now, but it took awhile for me not to feel the same way. The place is simply understaffed. Sometimes there's one waitress for the entire place! It's ridiculous. But, I will say the happy hours are amazing and the food is typically well worth the hassle. Best tacos in town, as far as I'm concerned. Having good vegan options doesn't hurt either. The seitan is amazing!

Third strike youre out
Every time I have gone to Papacitos I have been less impressed than the time before. My first time going there was to meet over a drink. Since then I have gone several times with friends. However, that will not happen again. To say the service is horrible is to be a gross misappropriation of the word horrible. Tonight I had to order my food three different times (for one reason or another, my dish never got made). The first time with the rest of my party, the second some 40+ minutes later and a third time another 15 minutes later than that because, on the second attempt the waitress apparently "Did nothing." Great. My plate showed up and it was incorrect. Not a small thing or an omitted ingredient, we are talking about the completely wrong dish. It took over a half hour for our drinks to arrive, which was odd, because we were sitting next to the bar. Your money is better spent at Vamos al Tequila a few blocks away where the food is delicious and the service is great. I can not fathom how this place remains popular. Eating there is literally a practice in patience and disappointment.
