This is our favorite spot for special occasions. Birthdays, anniversaries, hosting friends from out of town. The service is always excellent and the food extraordinary. Since it is also my name, I feel a special attachment to the place. My husband took me there for my birthday last week and the specials were outstanding, particularly the fig appetizer which I am still raving and dreaming about! I hope the chef puts it on the menu again. The service is always warm and welcoming. I would avoid it on general occasions like Valentine's Day since it gets far too crowded and rushed to fully enjoy the ambiance. A small price to pay for being so popular, I guess!

In addition to the well prepared italian classics you'll find unusual tasty regional food at this friendly neighborhood like restaurant. The wine list is well stocked and the prices reasonable. Stick with the Chefs special...you won't be disappointed.

What a find! This place has fantastic food and a great atmosphere. Small and intimate with a romantic feel. You absolutely have to try the Gnocchi. This is one of the best pasta dishes in the city. Good wine list as well. This is one of the best Italians in the Upper East.

We went here with three small children and they were extremely accomodating. The food was every bit as good as some of the more snobby restaurants downtown and the service was friendly and very attentive. It is great for a date too or for a special dinner party. Bravo!

I took my wife here recently and we both had terrific meals. The food was cooked to perfection, very tasty. The service was fantastic too. They didn't rush us out or serve too slowly. Just right. The back room is a little more private than the rest of the place -- but not appreciably better. You'd be fine sitting anywhere there. I would not describe this as a family restaurant. It's fine dining. Just not with the high prices to match.

My first visit was on Valentine's Day '04. It turned out to be a great choice, especially for that occasion. It's dimly lit & very romantic - a great date place. It was packed and the crowd helped create a nice atmosphere. The food was good, authentic homemade Italian. Decent service & wine list. I would return.

Paola's has great food and excellent atmosphere. It is very romantic, but make sure you sit in the back room, where it is a little more cozy, especially for a first date. The service could be a bit better, but the overall experience is very good.
