A very cozy atmosphere and potential celebrity sightings at this chic UES restaurant! Everyone was friendly-from the waitstaff to the hostess! Very underated yet always a favorite!

This used to be a reliable neighborhood place but lately the staff and owner seem to have forgotten how to run a business. Here the customer comes last. Waitstaff is arrogant and incompetent and the owner seems oblivious. This is very sad because the food was good for the price. Be aware that they did away with the Monday night wine discount. The waitstaff will not tell you they did away with the Monday night wine discount until you get the bill (after you bought the more expensive bottle of wine). Pretty lousy way to do business. Not worth a visit.

First a waiter dropped wine onto my wife; no apology. Then someone stepped on my foot; no apology. My wife specified what she did not want in her fish soup; request not honored. She sent it back and requested again; request not honored. She sent it back and requested again; maitre d' turned up and honored request. The food was barely edible. The duck rago was nauseatingly oily. The mushrooms with the veal chop were very oversalted, as was the fish soup. The bread is good. The room is crowded and noisy, rather nerve-wracking.

Nevermind this already unappetizing experience -- I had the thick noodle pasta with minced duck meat. It was very bland, which is surprising because duck is usually so tasty! The quality of the food was very disappointing considering the price tag. I will say that the chocolate mousse had some redeeming factors and the service was great but you won't see me in there again.

A group of about ten of us ate there for New Year's Eve and had a reservation well in advance. We had a great meal and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We were barely done finishing our dessert when the owner approached us to say that people were waiting for our table and she'd appreciate it if we would pay and leave! I've never been to a decent restaurant in Manhattan where we were pressured to leave. The owner probably had no qualms about asking us to leave since we were some of the youngest customers there. Regardless of our age, we were polite and paying customers like anyone else. We also noticed that people that had arrived before us were still there as we were asked to leave. There was no existing time limit on our table, just lack of respect directed at us.

This is our favorite spot for special occasions. Birthdays, anniversaries, hosting friends from out of town. The service is always excellent and the food extraordinary. Since it is also my name, I feel a special attachment to the place. My husband took me there for my birthday last week and the specials were outstanding, particularly the fig appetizer which I am still raving and dreaming about! I hope the chef puts it on the menu again. The service is always warm and welcoming. I would avoid it on general occasions like Valentine's Day since it gets far too crowded and rushed to fully enjoy the ambiance. A small price to pay for being so popular, I guess!

In addition to the well prepared italian classics you'll find unusual tasty regional food at this friendly neighborhood like restaurant. The wine list is well stocked and the prices reasonable. Stick with the Chefs special...you won't be disappointed.
