I live around the corner and went here since I heard that this mediochre restaurant had a new chef. Appetizers came within 15 minutes...fine. Mains came three minutes after the appetizer plates were cleared . They tried to take my plate away 15 minutes later. The whole "dinner" took 40 minutes. They never even bothered to ask us if we wanted seconds on our drinks. Carnegie hill is known for its poor restaurants but this one, regardless of the quality of the food, is the worst. I told Paola about our experience...she did not care.

Paola's is always busy and always good. There is value to be had on the menu, if one is careful and splurges, if you want them. The food is very good and even. The service is friendly and casual. The atmosphere is lively and happy, friends and family enjoying good food and company. After looking at some other reviews, I could not help but wonder whether we were talking about the same place. Or maybe some people are not happy with a generally confident restaurant feeding generally confident clientele.

There are not a huge amount of choices for people in the Carnegie Hill area but out of all of them this has got to be one of the best. The food is very good, the service is attentive, but sometimes not particularly friendly. The restaurant itself looks like some one has put a lot of care and money into it. Overall, if you brought people from out of town here, they would thank you for it. Very nice.

from pasta to duck, you cannot go wrong with anything you like on this menu--and they do have something for everyone. noise level is only obstacle in visiting this restaurant--very hard to hear, noise level to loud. Maybe they should remove some tables to give more space.
