So many better places...
I tried this with 2 girlfriends last weekend. At first, I was taken with the atmosphere but quickly got turned off when the manager/owner started yelling into his phone behind the bar about 2 feet from where we were seated! They gave us the table next to the bar which obscures most of the charm of the place and if you sit against the wall, all you see is the inside of the bar. The food is nothing special and I would have never gone here had I not worked in the area and it was convenient. I hate writing bad reviews but maybe the owner will read this and step up the quality of the food. Sorry, but I left hungry and annoyed. Not going back.

Fantastic, warm and inviting place!
Just spent Sunday lunch at Pao and had such a great time. The waiter was so friendly and made us feel like we were eating in our living room. The food was excellent and the ambiance was really warm. Highly recommended!

Can't wait to go back...
I went to Pao with my Mother, my Uncle and his new wife to enjoy fabulous food and wine and to talk about our upcoming trip to Portugal. The atmosphere was very charming...service was a delight and the food was spectacular! I had the trout which was one of the specials...and it was amazing! I ca't wait to go back!

Dinner at PAO!
An Italian business friend came to visit NYC. She was given the name of this small restaurant from yet another Italian businessman that insisted that she ate there. So, we made a reservation, took the subway to Spring and Brodayway and found ourselves walking and walking for a long time. Well, who would have know that this place is right next to the EAR IN? Once we got there, we were nicely surprised by the quaint atmosphere and the great selection of background music. So far, so good - the waiter was absolutely fabulous and explained each dish in detail and suggested a most delicious bottle of wine to accomodate our choices. None of the courses disappointed! The appetizers selected were so good, we could hardly wait to get to the Entrees- which came nicely laid out and tasted great. Even though our bellies were now full, we just had to check out a desert to see, if we can get all 3 courses to be excellent. Again, we delighted. I am taking my wife there tonite - she will love it too!

As authentic as it comes
Being Portuguese I've tried every Portuguese restaraunt in NYC. This place by far and away is at close as it comes to the real thing. The food is authentic and delicious. Wines are amazing and affordable. The people are warm and attentive. It's a hidden gem in NYC.

Looking forward to a return visit
Delicious food - a little cramped seating wise. Seats about 30 people at most. Had the special - lamb shanks. Still dreaming of them.

Portuguese without fling!
Dream of cod fish dishes. Not too greasy, just simple and not fancy. Middle of no where, but it is worth to dine there.
