Delicious food for a good price and a unique environment
Love the christmas/pepper light and the birthday song. They have such good deals that you can get appetizer, entree, desert for under $15 and you can bring your own drinks. There are often lines but they feed the customers snacks while they wait and they definitely have a high turnover so you go in and out quickly. But I definitely recommend!

maybe if we didn't get kicked out...
well, it was an experience. first they sat our reservation for 6 people at a table for maybe 4 max. the atmosphere was cool and unique but i dont know if it is worth the crappy service to sit through a meal here. you definitely get your meal quickly, and as soon as your done they want you out! we were finishing our wine and they tricked us into standing up and took our table! check out spice cove for a good indian place in the east village, close by, same prices and way better service

Tacky, Funky, Know what you're getting into
We affectionately call this place the "tacky place". It's a fun environment, and the BYOB is cool. It's a little hallway lit up with christmas lights, and it's a funny place to take people. The food is ok, not great, but not terrible, and the service is the same. It's a cool place to take an unsuspecting person or a visitor from out of town. You get pretty good value for your money though...it's not very expensive.

rushed, rude and bad
Went for a birthday party and was very disappointed. As a group of eight and we were in and out of there in 30 minutes. The waiters were rude and impassionate. Food was literally taken away from people why they were still eating. I can’t speak for the whole group but my food was pretty unappetizing. I have eaten a lot of Indian food and this was some of the worst. It could not even eat my meal. The waiters knocked in to us many times, it’s a small place, and I felt so claustrophobic. I would not have gone if I knew we would be eating in what felt like an elevator. I will never go again. Except the pretty lights they have hanging there is no real point to this place don’t be fooled like we were.

Lots of Fun Holiday Lights, Good Food
Extremely popular among college students, this place is lots of fun. Come on your birthday and they'll flash the lights for you. Happy holiday lights and tasty, inexpensive food. I've returned more times than I can count. Always puts a smile on my face.

I Wanted to Scream
Friday night, party of two, hustled at the door by this and the adjacent restaurant (frightening), got seated, went to use bathroom while waiting I could see servers breaking breads and handling foods with their hands, took a pee and washed hands, returning to table hair got snared in tacky shell chandelier, ordered and could immediately feel the rush by the staff to get us the hell out, food was ok but hell, the table was next to us was so close that one felt comfortable enough to ask to taste our food, decided to ask for check without finishing meal and was told that they don't take credit cards, went next door to get cash with the gansta maitre 'd's still at the door, returned and paid, didn't receive a goodbye or thank you from the staff nor the idiot who was so desperate to woo us in, went to a local bar to try and forget about the experience and kill whatever bacteria was in my stomach, almost a week later I realized that the experience still bothered me, logged on to menupages and wrote this review. In a nutshell: My experience was a disaster (but you probably sensed that). Can't remember this place being so terrible 10 years ago.

it all about the atmosphere
The lights are all it is about here because the food and service are nothing to get excited about. 50/50 chance for better food at the identical place next door.
