Delicious food and great service
I have been there on a Monday night with my parents. The food was delicious! We had a minestrone soup followed by gnocchi for them and linguine alle vongole for me, a creme brûlée and a cheesecake to finish. Everything was delicious!!! The vegetables in the soup were perfect, pasta was al-dente, and the cheesecake was not too sweet. We had an excellent bottle of Italian wine for a decent price. The service was great, not invasive at all, the waiter knew his job and his menu, and they were playing live jazz music, not too loud, it was really perfect for a Monday night! I would definitely recommend this place and will go there again!

Not recommended
I made a reservation on a saturday night for a party of 5 at 8pm. The place was empty, salsa music was very loud so that was impossible to have a conversation with my friends. Was a good 20 minutes before the waiter approached our table. We finally had our drinks 10 minutes later and we ordered our meal; after a couple of boring appetizers (oil soaked calamari, "fake" mozzarella caprese, tasteless tuna tartare) we got our main courses; an unappetizing lasagna made with ricotta (Lasagna supposed to be made with lite béchamel sauce), an overcooked risotto with porcini (probably fake dry porcini soaked in water overnight) and a tasteless pale chicken with artichokes we decided to call the Chef for an explanation... He angrily approached us with the most arrogant attitude, and told us that we dont understand anything about Italian food. My wife is really a great cook, she is born and raised in Rome from a family of awesome cooks, and she got really offended.I feel pretty confortable he had no clue about "Genuine Italian Cuisine"(like is stated on his menu) since one of the item on the menu was"Fettuccine Alfredo" , a dish you only see at disney world or in a tourist-pleasing Mulberry Street "Italian" restaurant. I will recommend this "chef" to take some classes or have a trip to Italy to see how you supposed to engage basic italian dishes. After that we quickly paid our check and went next door for coffee and desserts, best decision of the evening! We will never go back to Pane e Vino Peace

Never again
Went to pane e vino for lunch. We couldn't sit outside in the lovely glass enclosed patio because it was too hot to be cooled by their a/c. Ordered the fried calamari appetizer. Tasted like trader Joe's..marinara helped a bit, but tasteless nevertheless. Had the poorest lasagna in my life. They list it as their signature dish. Maybe the signature dish of the Borgias. It had a meat sauce that was so heavy with tomato paste and beef that tasted like it was 50% whole wheat bread. The pasta was very thin and so mushy that Chef Boy-Ar-Dee's pasta has more bite to it. NO ricotta cheeese anywhere in it and one ultra thin slice of mozzarella. It actually tasted old. Maybe the dinner menu is better, but this was a horror.

Made my 40th great!
I was looking for a restaurant for my 40th birthday with good food and atmosphere. I had "reservations" about this place since my husband and I had never eaten here. The restaurant we wanted to book was already reserved for a party of 20. This was the only one around Smith Street that looked like they could handle that many people. I read some old reviews about this place and it seemed mixed. So we took a leap of faith and decided to go with it. Great decision. The food was excellent and the service was great. My friends and family really enjoyed the food. The prices for food and wine are reasonable. The only complaint would be the plate charge of $2 for each person for bringing our own cake. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Loved it
I just love this place! They have the best staff who are always friendly and inviting. Beautiful place with a fun side (inside with the music that can usually include dancing during the weekends) and a romantic side (in the enclosed garden). During the week they have music that ranges from jazz to tango. The food is really good and they always have great specials. I love the setting there and did I mention they have a huge wine list!!! Can't say enough good things about this place! Ohhhh you have to try the stuffed pork chop and the spaghetti pesto! Yummm!!!

A night to Remember!
Went on friday as a girls night out.The restaurant was better than what i expected to look on the Web site. The food was delicious with good prices. There was a band playing Latin live music which make the candles light atmosphere extra nice. There was also a outside siting area which look very romantic which i cant wait to bring my boyfriend! My friends were very happy with the restaurant too that they cannot wait to come back. Is truly a great place to come with friend or for a date.
