Left Hungry, disappointed and a lot poorer.
My friends really wanted to try this place out. I agreed and was so angry upon leaving. The portions are so small, it was silly, the food quality was nothing to brag about (lots of pre made items) and the prices were so insane. I understand the value of a nice atmosphere, but if you are looking for great mexican and great prices, I would recommend Baby Bo's on 34 (amazing fish taco) or Taco Taco on Upper East Side. Both offer fresh made dishes at prices you will be amazed at. I always leave these places beyond full and the atmosphers are more authentic Mexican.

I used to love this place--not so sure anymore
I used to love, love, love Pompano's. However over the past year it's been downhill, in my opinion. The food is cold, rice and beans dry as if pre-served and my order was totally wrong-not what I ordered. Got seafood instead of beef. I almost cried at the swap of my order as well as at the tastless, cold food I received for takeout. Perhaps this will be my last visit.

Amazing food, but you'll leave hungry
I've lived two blocks from Pampano for over four years and finally took the chance to try it when my parents were in town recently. The food was amazing. I had the black cod, and it was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever eaten. The sauces on the fish were so incredibly flavorful; spicy, yet sweet, and perfectly balanced. I can see why they have a 24 for food in Zagat. That said, the food prices on the menu seem reasonable, that is until the food comes out. My piece of black cod couldn't have been more than 4oz. It mean it was really tiny. You will definitely be ordering dessert here because you will be starving when you are done with your main course. The cevice tasting menu is $49, and while all four were delicious, the portion was miniscule. The bottom line is this, the food is excellent but you may be stopping for pizza on the way home.

Very Pleasant
Three of us had a very good time. Two had the tasting menu, starting with ceviche, one shrimp and one halibut, both enticing. The quesadilla, brazilian bass, skirt steak and dessert that followed were all as good. Another had flavorful sea scallops. The service was attentive and professional. The wine list was diverse, with several under $50 and a couple, even less. This was the second visit for two of us; we'd all go again.

Great meal
Brought 11 work colleagues there and it didn't disappoint. The food was very good, service good, atmosphere pleasant, and the price was good (though alcohol was slightly pricey).

Unpleasant Experience
Restaurant Week. Nice seat on the terrace on Sunday night, and that was the only good part of the evening. The server munbled unintelligibly, made several errors, and seemed totally uninterested in customer satisfaction. The food was pleasant, and that's it, nothing to go back for for sure. Being outside was the only really good part of the evening. Oh, the margaritas didn't seem to have any tequila at all!
