    Great experience

Food was excellent and plentiful, service quick and attentive. We paid $80 for 4 including wine and beer. A bargain!

    Ho-hum Thai

Well, if this is the best Thai in Manhattan, then there's a lot of room for improvement, for the food (the three of us ordered quite a number of dishes, none of which stand out in memory) was ho-hum and tasted no better than what I (a non-Asian) can whip up in the kitchen in ten minutes using jarred Thai curry sauces, cheap frozen shrimp and dried noodles (in fact, Pam's massaman curry sauce tasted curiously like the stuff that comes from the 89-cent can). There was almost no taste of lemongrass and galangal in the food for some reason. Plain button mushrooms in place of straw mushrooms and many other small things like that added to the feeling of cheapness and corner-cutting. In one word, mediocre. Mediocre ingredients, mediocre cooking skills, mediocre service. Go only if you crave Thai food, any Thai food (is this REALLY the best Thai restaurant in Manhattan?)

    Oxtail soup is the best

I'm addicted to the oxtail soup. My favorite Thai place in the area. I think the food is wonderful. Very flavorful. Portions are great. Waiters are cute. The place itself leaves something to be desired, however. They could fix it up a bit. At least take down the Christmas decorations. Better lighting would be nice too. But the food is great.

    better than expected

clean neat place, the dish I had (rama platter),although a bit on the small side was very tasty. the service is perfunctory, no "may I's, or would you like?,but I find this not unusal in many Asian restaurants. I will definitely go back, the food is worth it.

Only Thai restaurant we return to

We live near 9th avenue and there are tons and tons Thai restaurants. Pam Real Thai is the only Thai place in the city that my husband and I go back to time and time again! We love Thai food, the culture and the people. We recently got married/honeymooned in Thailand and the first meal we had, even after having 2 weeks of Thai food was Pam Real Thai. The menu selection is huge, the price is good (not as good as what we paid for in Thailand of course), the staff is always friendly and the food is absolutely delicious!

food was good service small portions.

I went to Real Pam on 10/31/2008 with my brother and his wife. We ordered 3 different dinners and there was hardly any chicken or for that matter any food in the dinners. I complained to the owner who stated to me that times are tough and his prices are low. He was very rude and disengenious. Well i was looking for a nice meal, and to have an attitude like that i was dismayed. I wasn't asking for a lowering of the check i was just trying to help him since im a loyal customer. Then the cook came out of the kitchen and was even ruder to me than the owner himself. Please check out your meal portions if you ever go there. I will never go back given the treatment i recieved. In my opinion these people are out to make money and do not care about their customers. I would rather pay more for a good meal than get screwed out of a good night. Remember check out your dinner portions.

    Best Thai Food in Town

Best Thai food in town so far. When they say spicy they mean it and the price is VERY reasonable. We tried the papaya salad, beef salad, anchovy rice (everyone must try this), crispy duck (very cheap), and fried whole red snapper (it was very spicy and yummy). If you love REAL Thai food = flaming HOT SPICY food...this place will not disappoint you. I can't wait to go back again.
