All dishes too sweet
Although the dishes are well priced, every dish was too sweet. Pad Thai, curry and soup. I won't go back.

Good but not great on my visit
Four of us went to dinner on a Thursday night at about 6:15 pm. There were no other patrons in the room. Within 20 minutes, there wasn't a table to be had and people were standing outside the door. So, as other reviewers have noted, you need to get here early or you will wait. The service was good. A bit brusque (they were busy) but friendly. What I don't get though, are the reviews that put Pam Real Thai at the forefront of NY Thai restaurants with emphasis on its "authentic" character. Good Thai food should partake of the unique flavors of the cuisine: bright lemon or lime, lemongrass, nam pla, tamarind, kaffir lime leaves, cilantro, chillis. We had four dishes that we shared; pork with flat rice noodle topped with green and red bell pepper; duck with ginger sauce, massamun curry (which we requested extra spicy), and shrimp/squid sauteed with swet chili paste, chillis, and onion. The pork and noodle dish was tasty but without heat and none of the bright flavors mentioned above. The duck was marred by overly large pieces of meat (some still attached to an inedible skin) but the sauce was good. The massamun curry was the best of the lot with plenty of flavor and enough heat to make it interesting, though still quite mild for a dish we requested extra spicy. The squid/shrimp was unremarkable except that the squid was perfectly cooked -- a rarity in Thai places where the squid is usually like rubber. Based on these four dishes on this one night, I don't think I'd go back.

Will not be returning
We were really excited to try Pam Real Thai, hoping to find a place in the city that served authentic Thai food. Super long wait, which was understandable, but poor service. When they were going to seat our party of four at a cramped table, my brother asked if we could sit at another open table near the front - (the wooden booth with a back) because his wife was 8 months pregnant and huge. The host demurred, saying that they needed the table in order to seat two parties of two. We started to head to the original table, and my brother explained, "I wouldn't normally ask, but my wife is pregnant." At that point, the cashier replied harshly that we should not question them. Frankly, we were all stunned. We would have left but my pregnant sister in law had just waited, standing, for an hour and was starving. The food was okay. Service was not. Immediately after we sat down, they seated a party of four at that table we had requested. Sorry, Pam. We were really dissappointed in your staff and will not be returning.

Really Good Thai Food
This food was pretty darn good, and they give whatever requests you want. I loved it and I think all people would love it as well.

What's Happened to Pam's?
We went last night, after not having been there for a few months. Green papaya salad was overly-sweet, with a little lime and no chili. Chicken in the curry tasted either like very old chicken or turkey leftovers. A shrimp dish made with onions and peppers was missing the onions. Pad Thai was too sweet and too much red sauce. Our main courses, ordered individually, did not arrive together - one took almost 10 minutes more than the first. We used to love it, and bring new people there all the time. Now we won't risk it again.

Yum
The best Thai. Can be uneven. So, give it a second chance. It's worth it.

Food = Great, Service = Ick
A small but very neat place with the food absolutely delicious. I've tried many Thai places in the city but the food here is really excellent. Sadly, the service left much to be desired. Our appetizer and entrees came out the same time and when we asked for certain dishes, including dessert, we were told that everything was sold out. Our meal ended in less than 40 minutes. The experience was rushed and disappointing.
