    great brunch... so so service

went for sunday brunch... the food was great and the mimosas were awesome... i also love their coffee... very strong. plenty of flavor and excitement in their simple yet fun dishes. the atmosphere was also nice... relaxed. the only problem was the service...there was only one other table, yet our server was impossible to get a hold of. she hardly ever looked up, thus i had to go get her several times just for simple things like salt, more coffee, and the check. she was nice, just not very attentive. still, i would totally come back for a relaxed, tasty brunch.

    Attitude... decided to leave...

The place picked my interest as I was passing by, maybe bc they have a great location in a brownstone. Anyway, I didn't have any idea it was argentinean food, which I love. So I tried to go to this place about 3 times, during the week but they start closing around 9:30. Finally, we decided to go for Brunch: the server was so rude and with such a crappy attitude that my friends and I, including one from Argentina, decided never to come back.

    puhlease

what's with all the hype? now I understand why there are so many poor reviews of this place. Went the other day with my mother, have never had such over cooked skirt steak. with many other great restaurants in the area to choose from, i don't think i will return to this one. i would advise the next diner out on the town to avoid palo santo as well. overpriced, undergood.

    Great Food. Fabulous Atmosphere

My husband and I went to Palo Santo tonight and thought it was great. The staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was cozy and the food was delicious. We will be coming back here again for sure. I highly recommend the lamb shank and the lime pie for dessert. Wonderful wine selection also!

I wanted to like the place but..

that open minded feeling of supporting neighborhood joints and believing reviews pretty quickly gave way to mild nausea and bitter dissapointment. the somewhat mushy faire - they should consider changing the name of the scallops ceviche to gummy chum - was duly complimented by the frenetic atmosphere and junior varsity table service. after sampling a couple starters - and by "sampling" i mean my wife and i actually left uneaten ceviche and these no-good taquitos on the plate because we didnt want to eat them (a first for me) - i ordered the skirt steak and she went for the tilefish. it started out promising for me because i've never met a steak i didn't like. well, i'm not so pleased to report the search is over. my bit of meat had what looked and tasted like crust from another, unidentifiable bit of meat on it. my wife's fish was, alas, not as bad but at the same time hardly blew her skirt up. we left most of of the our food on our plates to the complete indifference of the wait staff. not a question, not an offer of a glass of wine to subdue our clear dissapointment. just a check for 92 bucks and a not too subtle nudge for us to make way for the next victims. yeah, love the place.

    gastronomical train wreck.

overpriced. over salted. very limited "seasonal" menu. steak was akin to a vintage catchers mitt dry and tough. was frankly shocked, especially after reading some semi positive reviews from a few years back. life is to short for mediocrity.

    Skip It

There are way too many restaurants in NYC, in Park Slope for that matter, to bother checking out Palo Santo...unless of course you are into rabbit (meat, hearts and/or livers). My husband and I had been looking forward to trying this place and were very disappointed. I am not very picky at all, but there were no appetizers to choose from, got a very small citrus salad that was okay. The pulled pork stew for my dinner was pretty good, salty, although was maybe just hungry by then! My husband got a poor excuse for a $27 steak. I did the price fixe (which barely has any choices) and so got dessert, which was the best thing that I ate. The waitress was okay, and although the chef (and owner?) was friendly...not worth going!
