    Amazing find!

Walked by this place several times and always wanted to stop in. Decided on Brunch today, which was amazing, from the atmosphere to the menu to the food to the staff.

    Lovely place for tasty brunch

Looking for something different for brunch, came across this Latin place and decided to try it this Sunday with a cousin. Situated on the ground floor of a brownstone, redone with Latin flair that suits the cuisine, with rustic wood floors and tables that are laquered with little latin coins and seashells embedded in them. Service was friendly and relaxed, we sat in the back room which has a skylight and is very cheery and cozy. Our server brought us menus right away, and a plate of a sweet cake/cornbread with a dollop of chocolate spread (perhaps nutella?) over it, delicious! Then they brought us a plate of sliced avocado dressed with red onion, slivered carrots and jalapenos, dressed with a light citrus based dressing, on the house - yummy! Small menu but this is usually a good sign... I ordered Huevos banados, poached eggs over thick cut fresh bread lightly toasted, with a spicy hollandaise sauce & black beans over them and sliced avocado. My cousin had the chicken mole which I tasted -very good. We also shared a Baked Platano maduro, which was served with a tiny pot of sour cream with turbinado sugar over it. We ate every bite! Portions were generous, and the cafe con leche was really good! Apparently the menu is seasonal which i like, and was reflected in how fresh everything was. This place will be added to my list of go-to brunch places, really nice change from the typical brunch fare, and prices were good to boot. We paid 40 for appetizer, 2 entrees, & cafe - with tip (the bill came to about 34 w/o tip). I would recommend this place to anyone wanting good Latin brunch fare in a relaxed setting - and enjoys not having to wait in line for 30 min!

    Fantastic eperience... def going back!

Have been to Palo Santo for brunch once before (summer 2009) and had a nice time... simple dishes with fresh ingredients that always had a nice special touch added... like mint or citrus to contrast and accentuate flavors. Two thumbs up for the food, though the service that time was kinda lackluster. Last night we went for my gf's birthday and had the most amazing food... their pork is awesome. The service was great... our server gave a very detailed description of the menu, which I appreciated, although one person in our party found it annoying. Still, I admired her excitement and passion for the food. All of our dishes were wonderful. Dessert was also great... yummy coffee too. Overall, I really like this place... they have their nights where it's hit or miss like anywhere else, but so far I'm a fan and look forward to going back. I can't wait to try everything on their fresh, ever-changing menu!

    Favorite Restaurant

Chef Jacques Gautier knows his stuff. Everytime that I have made it to Palo Santo, I've been delighted. Cheese Grits like they have back home, and a cactus salad that will knock your socks off! I'm unfamiliar with the complaints about 'rotten service' in this establishment, I've never had any problems! It is honestly my favorite restaurant, and I can't say enough good things about it. Even with the simplest things, like coffee, they hit the nail on the head. Hell, before my first trip here I thought that I hated sangria! But now? Now I realize that I just hadn't had good sangria before! Whatever, just go. Go now.

    great brunch... so so service

went for sunday brunch... the food was great and the mimosas were awesome... i also love their coffee... very strong. plenty of flavor and excitement in their simple yet fun dishes. the atmosphere was also nice... relaxed. the only problem was the service...there was only one other table, yet our server was impossible to get a hold of. she hardly ever looked up, thus i had to go get her several times just for simple things like salt, more coffee, and the check. she was nice, just not very attentive. still, i would totally come back for a relaxed, tasty brunch.

    Attitude... decided to leave...

The place picked my interest as I was passing by, maybe bc they have a great location in a brownstone. Anyway, I didn't have any idea it was argentinean food, which I love. So I tried to go to this place about 3 times, during the week but they start closing around 9:30. Finally, we decided to go for Brunch: the server was so rude and with such a crappy attitude that my friends and I, including one from Argentina, decided never to come back.

    puhlease

what's with all the hype? now I understand why there are so many poor reviews of this place. Went the other day with my mother, have never had such over cooked skirt steak. with many other great restaurants in the area to choose from, i don't think i will return to this one. i would advise the next diner out on the town to avoid palo santo as well. overpriced, undergood.
