    Far more than just Tapas

I can't say enough good things about Palo Cortado. The food is creative without going overboard. The fish dishes are beautiful, the paella is delicious. The service is stellar. The waitress and owner are very knowledgable on pairing wines and sherry with meals and desserts. And they're open for brunch on weekends! Of the 30+ restaurants I've been to in Carroll Gardens, Palo Cortado easily ranks in the top 3.

    Great Tapas in Carroll Gardens

What a great addition to the neighborhood. Food was very good. You don't notice service unless it's awful, or exceptional - and the staff here is truly amazing. I only wish the menu was a bit more extensive.

    Finally tapas and no wait

Just when I was thinking that the neighborhood needed a tapas place, Palo Cortado opened its doors! In a neighborhood that has become very difficult to find a table, we were seated at the bar right away at 9:45 on a Friday. In the candlelit interior, all the tables are high top with about 3 tables to seat 8 (or communal), 10 tables for 2, and about 15 seats at the bar. The menu is typical tapas fare and it's very well done. We had the shrimp with chorizo (average), lamb Albondigas (delicious!), Croquetas (tried all 3 and the Goat cheese w honey was the winner). The generous bartender also gave us small tastes of fried chickpeas with lime and salt (additctive!) and some small mild pepppers. They have a very good wine list with Spanish wine from regions that you rarely see on other menus. 3 plates and a bottle of wine with tip was under $100. In this neghborhood thats a bargain!
