Excellent, but poor value
A very pleasant place with excellent (not fabulous) food at fabulous (in a bad way) prices for lunch, when it was empty on the day I was there. When I commented about the prices and value, I was informed that the owners "didn't really care" whether there was much business or not, because the catering business was their main concern. They should decide whether they are in or out.

Less than stellar experience
Sad to say my expectations of this restaurant were shattered, because the waitress completely ruined our dining experience. Our food took forever. Then she brought us the wrong entrees, not once, but TWICE. By the time we got what we ordered, the food was cold. All we got was a half-hearted apology. Then, to top it off, the waitress completely disappeared after we requested our check. I had to ask another waiter to bring it to us. All in all, not what I expected. I won't be returning to Palma anytime soon.

Quaint & Delicious
Simple as that. Perhaps I just don't understand rating restaurants, or perhaps I'm biased towards the homey atmosphere of the West Village. Whatever the reason, I adored Palma and enjoyed my whole experience there. The manager was super friendly-he did a great job of, at least, appearing genuine. In fact, everyone we interacted with from the staff seemed to care that we were there. Plus the food, I thought, was excellent. Their garden provided a great setting for a nice dinner, which, after an appetizer, two of the nicer entrees, one dessert (the tiramasu was very good-enough for two), and a couple glasses of wine, amounted to under $90 (including tip) for my friend and me. I thought this was a great value given everything mentioned above. I highly recommend Palma.

Great little place
My friend and I found this place on the food tour. We really enjoyed the small tasting (the artichokes) and thought the chef (Walter) was so sweet, we decided to go back for dinner. We made a reservation for Friday night at 7:30 but arrived early and were seated right away. The waitress recommended a great bottle of wine and didn't try to push the higher priced stuff. The appetizers were yummy (we had the meatballs and the rice balls, which were almost like mac & cheese but delicious). We both had the pasta, I had the special, and we were not disappointed. They did not rush us and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. For the food quality and service, I think it was a great value. We did not sit in the garden but I would ask for a seat out there if the weather is nice. By 9PM the place was packed. A great find!

A nearly perfect meal!
It's not easy to find a perfect meal, but tonight's dinner came close! We had the cauliflower appetizer, amazing ricotta and basil dumplings, spinach agnolotti, branzino...tiramisu and panna cotta w/balsamic... The staff was very really nice to us, but they slipped up a tiny bit on things like refilling water, etc. Unlike others, we didn't feel rushed at all. The only iffy part of the experience was the molded tomato aspic-y thing they served with the bread.... I could have done without that...just plain olive oil would have been better.... I would definitely go back!

Service? What's that?
Same as many reviews here, the food was good, atmosphere was ok but they couldn't care less about service. We waited more than 45 minutes for our food to be served!! And don't think we ordered a very difficult main course. It was a mere plate of pasta. We asked our waiter several times to check what's going there in the kitchen and his constant answer was "i checked, your food will be out in 5 minutes..." and 45 minutes went by... How much time do you think it took the bill to arrive? You're right - less than 1 minute.
