Mediocre Food, Poor Service
First things first...If you are going to have a Latin/Cuban restaurant, LEARN TO COOK CHULETAS (porkchops)!!! If there is anything Latinos include in their cooking its FLAVOR! This restaurant has a lack of flavor in the cooking. Service left much to be desired. We made reservations for a group of 8, went in to an EMPTY restaurant, while a snooty man still insisted that I, the bday girl, and my mother stand around and wait until the whole party arrived! There was a beautiful big room in the back of the restaurant but they still sat us in a narrow space next to the bathroom. I will assume that the room was meant for "preferred" guests. The dinner continued with an unfriendly waitress who did not know anything that was on the menu, as well as a serving of mediocre dry food. It is a shame that this cold, unwelcoming, poor excuse for a latin cuisine "bistro", thinks they have the right to snub their noses at customers just b/c the chef was on food network. Whoever DID cook the food still needs to go to latin cooking 101 and learn to use some Sazon!

suprisingly great
Was referred this place by one of my professors who was married to the head chef. Was at first a bit turned off by the service as I was waiting at the bar, but was really surprised by the great Sangria, that was actually authentic Sangria, unlike much of that fake red-wine-with-cut-up-fruit that you see at so many places. Had 2 different appetizers -- one was rather average, but the other, the arepas, were INCREDIBLE. Actually, I think they make the best arepas I have ever had. Whatever super-soft amazing corn bread they are using, it is DELICIOUS. I've gone back a couple of times, but only for the Sangria and Arepas. When you know something is really good, you just stick with it. I cherish good dining experiences, and when I go to Paladar, I know I will get one.

disappointing
This was the second time that we went here, and it did not get better.... somehow it went from poor to poorer! The sopas had no flavor, the mahi mahi was over cooked, and the tres leches tasted like a sponge. Service was slow and for the price we should have gone somewhere else.

Delicious, Poor Svc. on Valentine's Day
My husband and I just returned from Paladar after a late-night Valentine's Day dinner. We were seated despite not having a reservation. The Price: Affordable. The food: DELICIOUS! The service... not so much. Two couples seated beside us were constantly catered to while we sat there, not even offered a second drink, let alone dessert, which, after waiting about 20 minutes we decided against. Poor service on V-Day...BIG NO-NO. We would have spent more, if they would have tried.

Surprised! Terrific.
This is was a surprisingly good meal. Went there last night, and it was strangely quiet. Must have been an off night, because the food was great. We all shared the tapas plates, every one being exceptional in presentation, taste and value.

glad we stopped in...
my friend and i were browsing around the neighborhood and stopped at this place for dinner... we loved it. everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly (we had the salmon and the shrimp dishes). the guacamole is spicier than usual, but we like spicy anyway,
