Fabulous! Especially
Wonderful food! I am vegan and gluetn free - and I have not had pizza this good in over a decade. My non-gf friends couldn't tell the crust was gf! Other gf vegans must have dinner here if you live or are visiting NYC. I was out to dinner with six other folks - all not vegans and not gf - they loved everything as well. Really a place where ANYONE really enjoy the food.

fantastic!
I have never had such good gluten free pizza! my mother has celiac & I have tried many gluten free foods with her but none have tasted so good! I ate the regular pizza myself but you could barely tell that the gluten free pizza was lacking anything! fantastic hearty pizza!! definitely recommend it for celiacs & non-celiacs!

stay away from the pasta
Went last night with a few friends and all were disappointed with the food quality. Bucatini Alla Matriciana - out of three friends who ordered it, only one was lucky enough to get ONE piece of pancetta. Sauce must have been from a generic brand can, not a touch of spiceness. Spaghetti E Polpette - just one word to define it: "salt". Lasagna - we know that bolognese sauce is supposed to have only a little of tomato, but none? The lasagna was an unappetizing gooey mass probably coming from a frozen tray. Guys, if you serve frozen lasagna, just get it from a different brand that makes it edible.

Must eat for all non-gluten and gluten eaters!
LOVE THIS PLACE! My friend is very gluten-intolerant (developing Celiac Disease) and we were eating near a theater on the LES before a show. I scowered the web but didn't find much. Pala looked good on the printed page...so we tried it. BLOWN AWAY! We had the Risotta balls (MUST HAVE!) and the sausage and mushroom pizza for the gluten free...and then I ordered their special prosciutto and shaved parmesan regular pizza. I preferred their gluten-free products to the gluten products! The portion was HUGE! Each pizza was around $18 and easily made two meals! It's made fresh in their oven right in front of you. Very clean. Good service. Quality drinks AND exotic drinks that I have never seen before (and I've traveled internationally). I can't get enough of this place! GO! NOW!

disappointing
The service here is subpar. We were in a group of 8, and it took everyone a while to figure out what they wanted, whether to share, etc. The waiter hovered over our table, and I had to continually direct him throughout the meal. I had to ask for water for everyone, then bread for the table, and after he took my order and a few others, he stood over my shoulder just looking at everyone else like something magical was going to happen. I had to say to him, why don't you go over to them and ask them what they want? Everyone ordered salads, some were sharing pizzas, and I decided to get the gnocchi (which was really good), but he brings my gnocchi at the same time as the salads, so what am I going to eat when their pizzas come? It made no sense. It doesn't matter if the food is good if eating there is completely annoying.

how is this place still open?
i have never had a more ridiculous experience. it took over an hour and a half for my food to arrive. when it did my pizza was cold and soggy. when i called to explain the man on the phone offering no apologies told me thats how it is supposed to be. when i asked him to speak to the manager he said he was. i will not be spending my money on anymore of their over-priced cold soggy pizzas.

Their GF pizza isnt the best
Service and atmosphere was very nice, but the GF pizza wasnt great. I have been to every gf pizza place in the city and also make my own on occasion.. all of these options are superior to the pizza at Pala. The size of it was small, and the texture of the crust was chewy and weird. The pizza's are pretty expensive (at least $20 each for GF) and one is barely enough for 2 people. If i were you, I'd spend my money at risotteria or Mozzerelli's, they have great pizza.
