Pakistan Tea House

A nice smile to the woman who always works the counter goes a long way (there are usually 2 women there in the day, they both respond well to a smile and friendly face). My boyfriend and I love the place, but he always gets different service than me, I think it's because I'm genuinely happy to see them and eat the food). The food is inconsistently good. some days it's phenominal, and others it's just really good. You end up eating a lot, so always end you meal with a chai to help with digestion.

I love love love the food here. Tasty, fresh and always filling. However, the folks behind the counter can be a bit (how shall we say?) mean. I'm afraid of hearing 'no naan for you' one of these days. However, the food keeps me coming back for more. Can't help it...

A bunch of us from the office tried out the combos for lunch. They were either five or six bucks. For the money, we got a great deal. The sides were awesome. The only complaints: 1) they do not separate the combos when you get take-out/delivery (they just throw it all in there); and 2) the chicken was not all white meat (and i got a bone once). But the Naan was so yummy. Don't forget to ask for the tamarind sauce!

This place has many a time sent me happily to the seventh floor post lunch. Be sure to ask for the chana masala, because it is hidden below all of the other popular trays (they hide the good stuff for the regulars).

This food is phenomenally good, and very cheap. For $6, you can get a heaping mound of chicken makhani and two vegetable curries over basmati rice. For $5, you can get the vegetarian equivalent with 3 vegetable curries. Not only are the portions very filling, but the flavor is incredible. Fresh naan is baked on the premises, and that is also delicious. Pitchers of cold water are available with your food, and the staff is very friendly as well. There is not much seating room, but this place is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Manhattan.

While the tikkas and breads are better than average at this downtown's Cabbie delight, the delivery service is simply horrid. If you want a unique Indian diningexperience, drop by their restaurant for a plate of freshly prepared meals. For delivery, let me save you a phone call and tell you what they would tell you, "sorry, no delivery today."
