    Great salsa, poor service!

I grew up in the Southwest and am always looking for good salsa in NYC. This place comes close: spicy, handmade. Yum! However, the service is poor. Even though it was a slow weekday night, our waitress would disappear for 15 minutes at a time before coming back, and when she did, every table hounded her for napkins, refills, etc. b/c she had been gone for so long. I don't know what she was doing in the back, but it shouldn't take 15 minutes to return to take a drink order. Than another 15 minutes to come back and take our food order.

Cute place, nice atmosphere, good food

I'm a bit confused by the negative remarks in regards to this place. Maybe there's been a wait staff change? I found the service to be attentive and the food to be really good--not just your run of the mill Mexican either. The atmosphere is super cosy, though I'll have to come back when it's either cold enough for the fire to be going or warm enough to sit outside.

    totally mediocre

Service is terrible. Food is incredibly mediocre and overpriced for its quality. Margarita was terrible. Could have spent $100 getting a much finer meal at other restaurants on Smith St. I honestly don't know what the appeal is of this place. If the margaritas were good, I could understand how it stays in business.

    Rude Waitress

I went to Pacifico for drinks and a late lunch. It's a shame about this place...the food and drinks are pretty good but the service is really poor. The waitress was incredibly rude to us after we asked her to bring something to our table. This was after waiting patiently for 15 minutes for her-- the restuarant wasn't busy.

    Knows how to treat customers

Went here on a recent Friday and the outdoor area was PACKED. Put down my name and was told 45 minutes. 45 minutes later we ask about our table and are told they gave it away. We were understandably upset, but without asking, the host brought us a pitcher of margaritas. Once we were seated a few minutes later, they brought out some chips and salsa, gratis. The food was great and the waiter offered excellent suggestions. While it took longer than expected, it turned out to be a great night!

    Disappointed :(

Walking in, the place looks great. We ordered both vegetarian dishes (portabello mole and veggie enchiladas plus the guac and tostones with chips). Everything was just "ok"...not really blown away and there didnt seem to be much effort in the food. I wouldnt go back, but maybe the meat dishes are better, and maybe after a few drinks it all tastes great. I just came back from Puerto Rico, and this food was a joke compared to the average food served there. I wouldnt totally write this place off, but our dishes were lame and the service was fairly slow. For $40, I felt totally ripped. Shouldve just went to trader joes haha.

    Love this place!

I'm surprised at the bad reviews of Pacifico. We go here at least twice a month -- it's a total staple. Granted, I get the exact same thing every time, the chicken tinga tostadas, so I can't vouch for the other food. But the tostadas are so amazing they warrant plenty of stars. I also like the salsa that everyone is complaining about. The service can be spotty, but since we're regulars we get plenty of free drinks -- which is pretty awesome. I also love the atmosphere in both summer (outside and fun) and in winter (cozy fireplace, warm old-fashioned christmas bulbs). I just love this place, and it's always packed, so others must too!
