    Where all the locals go!

Unbelievably fresh! I'm a school teacher in the neighborhood and this is where we always go for sushi. The L.E.S. has many places to choose from (in which we have tried almost all on our 45 minute lunch break) however this is by far the best. The service is fantastic....as you are typically waited on by the owners themselves who take much pride in their service and food. The prices are incredible....California Roll $2.25 Spicy Tuna $2.75 etc....the rolls are huge and don't forget about the $3.00 Sapporo on tap to compliment it all. The Bagel Roll is my favorite....cooked salmon, stuffed with creme cheese, lightly deep fried, and drizzled with a terryiaki sauce. WOW. I promise you won't be disappointed.....

    Absolutely fresh fish

I had the sashimi here and it was amazingly fresh and delicious. I have not found a sushi place with a better price to quality ratio in NYC. Much better than the places I've tried around St. Marks, even.

    Inexpensive and delicious

The prices here are amazingly low and to top that off the serving sizes are fairly large. Sush, sashimi, and maki (rolls) are all half off. Appetizer-wise, I had the fried oyster, soft shell crab, and fried squid and they were only okay, not the best I've had but are all cheap in price. I didn't eat the shrimp tempura and only saw the waiter bring it out and it is huge! I will order that next time. The fish are fresh and I highly recommend the salmon and white tuna. The regular tuna was bright red and looked like it was dyed to the point where it wasn't appetizing anymore. So if you're looking for an average mix of quality and quantity, this is the place for you.

    Poor service

I found the service here poor. I used to order takeout from Oyama 3 times a week. Last time I ordered (which will be my last) the food was never delivered. After well over an hour I called and was told it hadn't left yet. I waited another half hour and called back and was told the same. The lady on the phone was rude and couldn't give me an estimate as to when it would arrive. Finally she yells down the phone that she was cancelling my order and hung up. The sushi was normally up to par but if you want efficient service with friendly staff I would recommend that you don't eat here.

    The best and cheapest!

They may have a strange atmosphere, but they have the best fish, big pieces, and they will fry anything you want for a tempura roll (the lobster is highly recommended)! And the best part is, all take out and dine in is FIFTY PERCENT OFF! What a great place.

    Not recommended

Is this sushi cheap? Yes. Is this sushi good? Not really. Was their service prompt? No. Went there at 8pm on a Friday. Yes, I understand that is a very busy time for restaurants but this level of service was poor regardless. We got seated promptly. 10 minutes later, we get menus. 10 minutes later we order. 10 minutes later, our beers haven't arrived. We ask again. No beer. We ask a different waiter who promptly brings out our drinks. The food arrives but they dont bring the food all together. They brought out some sushi, then 5 minutes later some chicken, then in another 10 minutes, more sushi. After all of this they mess up our bill. Somehow they had it down that we ordered 6 beers. I guess evertime we ordered a drink they put it on the bill but forgot to actually bring the drink. We had to fight with the manager to get our bill fixed. Then they have the nerve to get angry with us for tipping ONLY 15% (I usually tip more but I felt that for this level of service 15% was very generous.)

    A mouth full of savings!

Holllllaaa! I love the food here, and hooray they finally got Ichiban beer on tap. So come here for the great sushi & the amazing price. Also, I am trying to start a petition to have then add chocolate syrup to their fried green tea ice cream so when you go in, suggest this to them, pleeeasssee! P.S. - Got to have the champion roll.
