love this place
One of the best sushi places i've ever been to. Fresh fish, beautiful rolls and awesome prices. I eat here about 2 times a week and love it. Service is eh, but just remember you are there for the sushi. Cheap pitchers of beer too. 5 rolls and a pitcher of beer for around $40. Amazing.

Average
Just average. I ordered takeout the rolls were okay, but I really did not care for the watery Miso soup. Maybe if you're looking for cheap sushi, but I think you can do better.

Worth it
Lacking in atmosphere yes. but the friendly service and excellent food are worth the trip out there. The trip out there. With the low prices, you cant go wrong.

Best sushi in the city!
Yes, Nobu and Tao have great sushi, ambiance, service, and presentation. However, Oyama's sushi is just as fresh and just as tasty. The service is not amazing or incredibly friendly, but the sushi comes out quickly and is absolutely delicious. If you drop in and order take-out, they'll make it on the spot. Plus, their sushi rolls are permanently half-off! You can get two rolls, which for me is a full meal, for $5! I get take-out here several times a week, and it's always been delicious. Moreover, it is by far the best sushi in the East Village! I recommend Oyamo to ALL sushi lovers!

Best bang for your buck!
I absolutely love this place. I eat here (or take-out) at least once a week (sometimes more) and find that the value is unsurpassed. Yes, there are much better sushi places in Manhattan, but the value is ridiculous. You can walk away full for under $7 a person. The service and atmosphere are not good, but it's the price you pay for cheap sushi. I wish I wasn't moving to the west village just so I could eat here for the rest of my (NYC) life.

Love this place!
I love taking visitors to this place, it's one of my favorite sushi restaurants and now a few of my friends favorite too! Sure, the service and atmosphere lack some lustre but the food and prices by far make up for it. Highly recommend!
