Very good tacos especially the fillings. But tacos were too small and the housemade shells were very bland almost the kind you make at home with the masa mix. The service needs improvement and the trays used to serve the tacos are quite crude.

this place is amazing! Just the smell of the fresh corn tortillas had my mouth watering the second i walked in. I must say being from Cali, i thought that a 3$ taco was a bit steep especially because they are small in diameter. HOWEVER these tacos are yes small but O-SO-MIGHTY!. I ordered three with hopes to get another one if i was still hungry but three did more than the job and completely stuffed me. Each taco was spiced extremely well and amazingly satisfying. All the meats were cooked perfectly and the tortillas stayed together extremely well. I ordered the masa fries as well and they are the best thing since the creation of the potato. Ottos tacos gets a ton of press and it might not be the best taco spot in the entire world but i dont think that matters. They put out amazing food for an honest price and as fast as you can imagine. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

If you need a taco pick-me-up (because, who doesn't?), stop in to Otto's Tacos in the East Village. This LA inspired taqueria is making everything from scratch, fresh, everyday. Everything is meant to eat in a pit-stop fashion, order, take a seat, eat, and keep on trucking. I ordered their Mushroom Taco and added guacamole.

We had been so excited to try this place after its write-up in Gothamist and all the glowing reviews. We were utterly shocked by what we experienced -- it's not that unusual that restaurants don't live up to the hype and we're slightly disappointed. But this is different -- I honestly can't understand why anyone would rave about this place. The masa chips were dense, dry, and extremely salty, although the dip they came with was good (probably the one thing I ate all night that I enjoyed). The tortillas were dry, the taco fillings were bland, and worst of all, everything was insanely salted. I am not usually one to complain about salty food but this was out of control -- it obliterated any other flavor you would have picked up in the food. The guacamole especially. Also, when you order guacamole on your taco (for an extra 35 cents) they give you way too much -- there was more guacamole than filling, also ruining the flavor. Will definitely not return.
