Food is solid. Service seriously lacking.
Five out of seven of us arrived for our 6:30 reservation for my dad's birthday, only to be very rudely told by the hostess that everyone had to be there to be seated. Seriously? For a party of 7 people with a reservation you are going to tell us we have to wait for everyone to be seated? Keep in mind we were with my father who is over 70 and has ankle problems and difficulty standing for long periods of time. When we told the hostess he needed to sit and could they possibly seat us early (the other two joining us were a couple blocks away), the hostess so rudely and insultingly pointed to a chair in the middle of the bar area for him to sit. I wasn't about to let my father sit in some random seat in the middle of the bar area on his birthday. Thanks but no thanks. We finally sat down at our table after waiting another 15 minutes for the previous party to finish their desserts. For our 6:30 reservation, we weren't seated until nearly 7:00pm. The waitress brought us our water but we waited 20 minutes for her to come back to take our drink and food orders. Not once did she stop by our table to ask if we wanted drinks or if we had any questions about the menu. She couldn't have cared less about our table. We had a good time because we were with family and it was for our dad's birthday, however I would seriously re-think returning to this restaurant or recommending it to anyone. The food and pizza were solid, but nothing to write home about.

What? WHAT?
That is what you will be constantly saying if you wish to carry on a comversation while dining here. This may be the loudest restaurant I have ever been to. That aside, the pizza was pretty good. Not the best and not the worst I've had. Desserts were tasty, I recommend the Black & White.

Lame service, overrated food!
They had to hosts that didn't make us feel welcomed when we arrived, we actually felt awkward even having a reservation. The pasta has not cooked to al dente, it was so hard. The tomato sauce wasn't homemade, it really tasted like canned tomato paste. The salad was good but it was supposed to have escarole, which I never saw, I could only see lettuce. So I decided not to risk it for dessert and went to another place.

Disappointed...
Because I'm such a huge fan of Batali and trust his choices, I cannot believe he has allowed himself to continue to be affiliated with this place. The service was the best part of the experience... I ordered the cardoons and spicy rabe for appetizers, my friend the brussel sprouts and cauliflower. If you're a Sicilian, you would be horrified as to how the cardoons were served. Not that they must always be fried, but these were utterly tasteless. Cardoons are bitter as it is, and there were no garnishes to help cut that taste. The rabe was dry and crumbly...camman'...give me nice sauteed rabe in olive/garlic that I can put on bread. The pizza was burnt, and the gravy (yes, I said gravy) was way too sweet. There are tons of pizza places that are making thin crust pizza every day and can put this place to shame. Not to mention, it was over-salted. Salt is not flavor, folks!

Wonderful Meal
Had my friend OTTO experience last week with friend who are regulars. Dennis took exceptional care of us. Upon our entering there weren't seats for the three of at the bar where we wanted to dine. Before I knew what was happening, we had Prosecco in our hands and were toasting the night while waiting for space. About 10 minutes later space cleared and sat and began our meal with vegetables, a lovely souffle and spot on bottle of red. We shared a pizza as a main course which was lovely as well. My ONLY food complaint was the pizza was a little too salty for my palate. Just a little... but all things considered minor points off I attribute there were well made up for in every other aspect of the food, impeccable service, and overall value of the meal. OTTO is a real treat of a meal. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
