I went with a group of 8 for a birthday last night. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious! With such a large wine menu we asked for a reccomendation from the waiter, and ended up with a great bottle of wine. The cheese platter was a bit small for the price, but it was fantastic. Make sure you taste the olive oil gelato, it's much better than it sounds. Overall we had a great experience, but I have to say that it got very noisy very quickly. If you don't mind that, it should be a great dining experience!

A complete disappointment. The wine bar area/cheese apps were the only bright spots here. The service was very poor. The waiter never brought out any of the service items we had asked for. Plates, spoons..nothing. I am not hard to please. I like to eat, and RARELY complain..but the pasta looked like something a 6 year old could have made..no taste, zero presentation..the pizzas were plain and over priced. I dont think this is how Mario envisioned this place. Go for the wine and cheese..stay clear of the pizza & pasta.

We've been wanting to eat here for a while and finally did last night. I cook better pasta at home; it was tasteless and very oily - at least it wasn't overcooked. The pizza was mediocre at best and the cauliflower side was overcooked and oily. Great wine list, but I'd still skip the restaurant.

My wife and I have eaten at Otto many times over the past few years. We usually come on the weekends for lunch. We don't need a reservation, and we never have to wait. Let me tell you, I don't know what all these reviewers are expecting, but it's a fun place. Don't come here expecting Babbo and you'll have a good time. The wine selection by the glass(quartrino) is outstanding, the pizzas and antipasti's are good, and the gelato's are great. The service can be hit and miss, depending on who your waiter is, but that's a small complaint. Hey, you even get to see Mario on occasion. Go and have a good time.

This place is not all it is hyped up to be. I ate here last week and found the food mediocre and the service terrible. Although we had a reservation, we were seated at a table on the path to the kitchen (loud & noisy). Our entrees were brought out before we finished the appetizer, and sat there getting cold while we ate our appetizer. When our server was asked about wine selections, she offered up only one recommendation--the most expensive per glass wine. The food was not that great, and we were rushed through the meal. THE BEST PART, however, was that later when I emailed the management to complain, I was told that it was my fault for not pointing out the problems while I was in the restaurant so that they "could have been corrected." How do you correct cold food when it's already on the table? Apparently I got lousy service because I wasn't a loud, obnoxious, and demanding guest. I guess my friends and I didn't spend enough money to get decent service.

I first went to Otto shortly after it opened. we had a lovely dinner. since then i've been a few times, the last probably two years ago. i've always enjoyed it. Saturday night i took my uncle and cousin, who haven't been to NY in years. THe food was DISAPPOINTING. the Pizza was soggy, the pasta overly sauced. the service was mediocre, the music was blaring. the wine was lovely, even great. everything else was a tremendous disappointment.

It seems that Otto has a swollen head - when dining there a few weeks ago (with a prior reservation), my group and I were rushed through our meal - the main course was brought out while we were still eating our appetizers, the servers repeatedly interrupted our main course to ask if we were done, and our dessert was taken away while we were still eating it. On top of that we were then asked to leave the table because the restaurant had to "move the table" - seat other waiting customers - and we were told that Otto was not the type of restaurant where patrons could linger, but a place for a "quick bite" and that patrons were expected to get up promptly when done. This was outrageous and ruined what was supposed to be a fun night out.
