Agree with an earlier review - this would be a great place for some wine and cheese after work. The cheese selection and the honey / apricots / cherries was very good. Pizza and pasta were distinctly average. Pasta dry and boring. I don't know about the person from NYC who wrote another of the reviews who claimed this was the best pizza they'd ever eaten. Have you just been let out of prison? For christ's sake, you can get better pizza in the UK which is saying something.

We were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We should have left right then but decided to stick it out at the bar. an hour and a half later...we are seated at a table. So I'm thinking "it's going to be worth the wait" wrong! We ordered some cheeses, prosciutto and olives that were very good. I was happily enjoying for about 5 minutes when my pizza came. I told the waiter I was not finished with the cheese, prosciutto, and olives and wanted to finish them. He either didn't hear me or didn't care because he just took my plate and placed my pizza in front of me. There was no room on the table to put it elsewhere and he brought it out way too early. The pizza was nothing special and I would have rather finished the cheeses, prosciutto and olives i ordered with my wine. After waiting for over an hour you would think the wait staff would let us enjoy our meals instead off rushing us out and clearing the table before we even finished. This was one of the most disappointing experiences I have had at a restaurant in a long time.

This is definitely the place to hang out if you are (or want to be) part of the NYU crowd. Great if you like extremely noisy places where you have to shout in order to have a "conversation." The food, however, is average (thin crust pizza yes, but very salty crust and sauce), and the prices are not exactly on the cheap side. Good selection of wines and cheeses though.

The food is outstanding, consistent, extremely well priced and fresh. The atmosphere is welcoming, warm, festive and clean. The barstaff is knowledgable and they get friendlier the more you come in and if you tip them well. I come here all the time and sit at the bar for hours. Mario is a genius. My favorite dishes are the caponata, peas with prosciutto, pasta al norma and the pasta with butternut squash. The cheeses and meats are wonderful and the cheese condiments (apricot and red pepper, stewed cherry and truffle honey) are divine!

Just ate here for lunch. Shared a heirloom tomato caprese salad which was a bit pricy ($15) but in my opinion, totally worth it - the tomatoes were so flavorful, and there was an assortment of them, each bursting with delicious flavors. Ok, then I ordered a pizza with arugula and prociutto. Oh man, by far the best pizza I have ever had. The prociutto was thinly sliced, the sauce was fresh and full of flavor and there was mozzarella along with another cheese which had amazing flavor. I think that they use such amazingly fresh ingredients making it taste so good. Plus, the crust is perfectly thin and crisp. I grew up in nyc and can say that i have had my share of thin crust pizza, I was surprised to have enjoyed this pizza as much as I did, but it is honestly the best I ever had!

Just dined at Otto..what a terrific experience. Grabbed a few drinks at the trendy bar before dinner. Table for 2 was waiting for us when we were ready on a crowded Wednesday night. this is not a typical pizza joint. if you want a "slice" go somewhere else. this place is top notch. they make the majority of the ingredients on the menu in house. we r talking amazing cheese. we r talking black truffle honey. the pizzas r amazing..but only after you've had some of the best prosciutto the city has to offer. the olives..ridiculous. the pasta. this is as close to being in italy as u can ever imagine. if you r looking for a more casual yet completely authentic italian meal...please try Otto. it is amazing!

I understand the reviewer's frustration with the wait but the food, service, experience is well worth the wait. While you wait there are many tables to stand at, a great bar and a fantastic wine menu to choose from. The food is always delicious. I have been here with both small and large groups and leave extremely satisfied every time.
