Let me start off with saying that I love dining in Williamsburg. But this place is subpar! My wife and I went for dinner on a Saturday night. Pretty place, I must say. But very over priced and the service was poor. The main meal didn't arrive for over one hour ( app took long too). The waitress was no where to be found. Once we got her attention, all she could say was the kitchen was busy. You should never have to wait so long for you meal and encounter an attitude from your waiter. I noticed other people complaining too. Anyhow, if this is how this place operates, they will not be in business too long. Better options in Williamsburg.

I decided on heading to Brooklyn, just for a different location of dining. I live in Manhattan and extremely happy with my dining experiences in the city. So I buy this Bloomspot coupon for $50 for prix fixe menu for two ($90 value). I was totally disappointed. From my experiences a prix fixe means you get to choose your own appetizer and entree and so does your husband/friend. In this case you get share 1 appetizer and 1 entree. This is certainly a complete rip off and not a $90 value. It did include 2 glasses of house wine, which in this case made it about a $50.00 value not $90.00 The food was good, however if you are paying with a Bloomspot coupon you may get the weird eye from the owner.

Is the best italian restaurant in Brooklyn!

Upon entering, you'll find that the interior is well-adorned. This is quite likely to be the best aspect of dining at this restaurant. I dined with a group of 14 on a Saturday. Reservations were for 7pm and my group arrived at least 15 mins in advance to a relatively empty restaurant. Apparently, Osteria il Paiolo is incapable of servicing more than two large groups in one evening in a courteous manner. We'd barely sat down when our waiter came by and stated that their restaurant would be accommodating two other large groups later the same evening so our group should order rapidly so that the food could come quickly and we could be done with dinner sooner. Had the restaurant been more busy and the waiter's tone more pleasant, his message wouldn't have bothered me. However, neither were the case, so I was not very happy. I wonder why they didn't consider scheduling more waiters for the evening if they knew they would have to accommodate multiple large parties, or as an alternative, schedule their large parties farther apart in time from each other so there would be neither worry of overlap nor a need to rush us out. Food is typical Italian fare. I ordered the Insalata Mista and the Pappardelle al Cioccolotto al Ragu di Cinghiale e Verdure. The wild boar has the consistency of beef meat, which would be found in average beef stew. Be forewarned, portions are small for the price, therefore, chomp away on the complimentary pre-dinner bread. As an alternative, plan to order an appetizer, entrée, AND dessert. We were offered freshly grated cheese and/or pepper. One of the people in my party desired grated cheese on her meal, but the waiter said "No, not on the seafood!" to my companion very gruffly. If cheese would not complement a certain type of dish, he could've found a more courteous way to explain this. Then we witnessed the restaurant staff arguing amongst themselves. If the wait staff needed to quarrel, perhaps it would've been better to deal with their internal issues in a back room or kitchen, rather than quarrel where diners could easily witness the bickering. I baked a birthday cake for my friend. Though 14 plates were provided, only 2 forks were provided. We asked at least three times before utensils came. Luckily, there isn't any cake cutting fee. Do NOT come here with a large party. Perhaps it's better to go in a smaller group, but be poised for a atrocious experience if you plan to go as a larger group.

I finally made to Osteria for dinner. My husband and I sat at the bar and enjoyed some very good wine and food. The lobster pasta was delicious and the fish of the day was perfectly cook and came with awesome jalapeno mashed potatoes. The place is not cheap but it was a perfect meal and the service was friendly and attentive. We hope to have the same experience next time. The menu has lots to offer so if you are in the mood for some great italian food, go there!

I passed by plenty of times always very engaged by the interior, finally made it to brunch on a Saturday and it was as I expected excellent. The Bloody Mary is one of the best I probably ever had and the other special drinks on the menu are just as good, (don't remember the name) Brunch was awesome and very well priced. I need to go back for dinner. The interior is spacious and ideal for larger groups. The service attentive and handsome!
